Problems with "Spontaneous infection"
After last update with Shadow plague somethink obviously wrong with spontaneous infection (further SI) of closed countries. I've started playing "Shut Down Everything" for some days ago, and there was no problem with SI of closed Greenland or Madagascar (as you may know these islands very often shutting down almost at the start), but now there's no even small chance to infect them if it's closed. A got SO many attempts even with increased chance to SI (zoonosos, hematophagous etc.) but it's not even working. Yea, i know it's kind of random, but yesterday before this update i've played with Prion and easy infected all countries, include closed Madagascar by SI, but now i spend over 2 hours to win with Virus, and i won just because i infect islands before they shutted down, and it was only luck. Now the same situation with Bacteria: shutting down island at the start - restart the game, bcs there's no or very small chance to SI it now.

Nothing has been changed in this update that would affect this. We can take a look but I think this might just be an unlucky coincidence. The spontaneous infection is supposed to be rare and not something you'll come across every game :)

Well i got SI with using cheats, and it took more than 2 years for infect 1 island with all possible skills for increased chance of SI. Probably i'm realle unlucky but as i said before - there was no that problem before update. Only 1 Bioaerosol for example would be enought for SI in less than 1 year, but now after 3 hours of attempts - nothing. Coincidence and just misfortune?

Potentially, though there could be something wrong. As I say though, we haven't changed the core game so it's unusual that you've noticed such a big change.

We'll have a look. Thanks.

Hi, we've had a look at this and have a few questions :)

- What difficulty are you playing the game on? Spontaneous infection should only occur on Casual mode so if you have made the step up to Normal or higher, you will stop seeing this. To clarify, SI doesn't include random infection by Birds, Contaminated Blood etc. (but the chances of these occurring are lower on higher difficulties)

- If you're playing on Casual would it be possible to get a log from a completed game, once you have fulfilled the conditions which would normally lead to an SI?

Thanks!

I've played on Normal mod, because it's the only way to get "Mr.President" and etc. achievements. I know about low chance, but as i already told twice - there was no problem with SI on Normal and even higher mode before update. But if on normal no SI, how i suppose to infect closed at the very start islands in less than 1 year? I cant' infect them before they get closed physically, but after it takes too long to SI them.

Apologies if my previous message was unclear. The Spontaneous Infection event isn't in Normal Mode or higher at all. The random infection events (bird migration, contaminated blood packages, etc.) are, but have a lower chance of happening on higher difficulties. It's supposed to be a rare occurrence, so basing a tactic around it might be a little risky!

Experiment with different starting countries if there are specific countries you're having difficulty infecting :)
