IMO Fungus is one of the easiest, since you can "break" closed borders with spore clouds. Just use 1-2 spore clouds at the beginning to get multiple footholds, then push transmissions while laying low and infecting...

I can get the whole planet infected its just that i can't kill everyone before it gets cured.

Start in a good country (China usually is a great choice) and develop transmissions and resistances. I'd recommend buying 1-2 spore clouds for early spreading as well. Then the standard tactic (increase infectivity while keeping severity and lethality low) works fine. Watch which countries haven't been infected - fungus is great of getting that pesky Iceland with a spore cloud for example.

As soon as you have infected all/most of the worlds poulation go for the lethal genes and let them die...;)

With me, the best way is to evolve only the transmissions & the resistances to infect everyone without them knowing about it, then buy spore clouds if a country/Island hasn't even been touch through infection (Greenland, Iceland, Philipines, Carabian, Managascar, New Zealand & New Guinea are the most hardest to infect). When the whole world is infected, devolve all transmissions & evolve symptoms until you get one the High Lethality symptoms.

It takes patience my friend. Get 1 spore at the beginning to help spread you, then get water and air 1 + 2. Cold resist 1, drug resist 1. Get cold 2 next. If wealthy countries have you down, get drug resist 2 (but you may not have enough DNA?). Once you got most of the world infected, there should be like maybe 1 or 2 pesky ones left. Use a spore or two to infect those. Save up your DNA points. Once every person! is infected, the start buying symptoms. I personally like starting at the lower righ hand, and buying up to the lethal combo on the right side of the tree. This will take 77 DNA. If you got any left over, buy your way towards total organ failure. People will be dying by the numbers now.

I just finished Brutal with Fungus. Took 1000+ days but I patiently kept symptoms away and went with Air and Water 1 and 2, Drug Resistance 1 and 2, and Bird 1 and 2, using spores to spread more. I set the Gene to gain DNA points when I pop Blue cure bubbles, and then I made them aware of me due to not caring that Nausea had evolved, I took it straight on the path to Organ Failure which just happened to evolve on its own, thank you random mutations(not the first time this has happened), and I just kept going around to Hemmoragic shock or w/e that one on the right is that is almost as lethal as organ failure. If you go the lower path to get there you can also delay the cure a bit. And I also had Hardening 1, probably could have gotten hardening 2 but I chose to ignore it due to not feeling the need for it. The cure rate was only at 30% when everyone died. Just take your time and suppress any symptoms till your ready. And try to save as much DNA as possible for when you need to go fatal.

What you want to do is save your spore ability till then end, this is what I did to win (I won on Normal with only 41% of the Cure done)

Before the Game make sure you have the following Genes
-ATP Boost

Now Start in one of the Following Pllaces
-Egypt (Best Place to start, 41% Cure before win)
Reason: you start in Africa where there is not a lot of Support for the Cure when it does start, Humid and with an Airport and Shipyard so it can spread quickly, Being on the same Contient as China and Russia at you will have access to at least 65% of the World's Pop.
-Saudi Arabia (86% cure before win)
Reason: Closer to China and Kinda like Egypt easy to spread and not a lot of people to work on the Cure. although Saudi Arabia are quite Paranoid so they may dectect you more quickly
-Iceland (91% Cure before win)
Reason: Quick Access to Greenland (which is a pain in the A** to infect). Starting in a cold place it makes you want to up your Cold Resistance and has Airport and Shipping Yard which when AIR and WATER Transsmission are at 2 it can easily go around the world

Now you want to get Transmissions
Air 1 > Water 1> Livestock 1> Water 2> Air 2

Wait a little bit and any mutation devlove

As for your ablities get to Cold 2 (for Russia, Iceland, and Greenland) and get to Drug Resistance 2 (For Richer Countries like USA and UK)

Make sure you save up your DNA until you have about 2-4 Countries that aren't infected yet.

When you get to this Point you should have more than 90 DNA Points (pendning on how much mutation has Occured) then you head to your Abilities and Spore Blast until you have the Rest of the world Uninfected. and make sure you increase your Infectivity so you can Get around more quickly

You can either wait until there are no healthy people in the world Or when you are about to infect everyone

Now before you start your Final Phase to kill everyone you need to make sure infected aren't willing to help each other when it comes to the cure so Get the Following

Insomia > Paranioa

With this the Cure will be slowed down by about 4-16% and from time to time you willl get messages saying "EXAMPLE COUNTRY/REGION refesues to help Global Efforts for the Cure" So it is worth getting

and now for the last part you need a way to KILL people and this is how

THere are a number of ways to do it, you can go for one of the following

Total Organ Failure
Reason: Rapid Death and along the way you can get Immune Suppression which can help further mutate your Disease which is the best way to go. From there your Disease should start killing off countries like nothing
Coma
Reason: Although not as Fast as Total Organ Failure, it does surprising decreases the Rate of research which is a Plus, the easiest way to get to this one is through Cysts
Hemorrage Shock
Reason: Going through Anemia, this one has potental to become deadliy especially if you can get to Necrosis. This also helps with Infection if you don't want to wait until the last of the people are infected
Necrosis
Reason: Great to use since Dead Bodies and still pass on the infection and if you don't want to wait until the last of the people to be infected, Necrosis can still touch them. Great easpecially if you can get Hemorrage Shock or other High Level Symptoms

If done Correctly the you should be able to win, Although I strongly Suggest starting in Egypt and try to go for Total Organ Failure at the last part, if you mess up in the beginning or the end, then you won't be able to win

Here are some other suggestions that may help

If you are really worried about the Cure try to get Insanity, By Getting Insanity it will decrease the rate of cure research AND once you get it it should drop the Cure % by either 20,30,40 or even 50 (Depending and on much of the cure is done)

Insomia > Paranioa > Seizures > Insanity

For Colder Countriies you can get to Pneumonia which makes it a lot more east to infect people although it makes you more noticable

Coughing > Pneumonia

Avian Transmission
This is a Great Alternatie in case you don't want to do Livestock, although it isn't as Effected to Rural Countries like Livestock, it can go over Land Borders a bit more easier

When it says a cure is being developed, change the chemical makeup of the fungus. It delays the cure, giving the fungus more time to infect.

If it gets cured before you can beat it you're spending too much DNA on transmissions. Water and Air should be enough, then do the rest with Symptoms (down the Necrosis tree) and Abilities (get the gene that makes abilities not increase in cost).

Start by getting all the Fungal Spores except one to infect as many countries as possible. The last one you leave for when there are only 4 or so uninfected countries left.

After that, get the Bio-Aerosol transmission, then get the sweating symptom and the one right below that is before Necrosis, antibiotic and cold resistances, and once they start working on the cure get Necrosis and start spamming Symptoms that increase Infectivity and Severity. Then, once all countries are infected and have about 1000-10000 infected, get all the killer symptoms like Total Organ Failure.

I've beaten every disease on Mega Brutal and Fungus wasn't even close to being the hardest.

I did it like this:

For the Genetic Code pick:
Catalytic Switch, Genetic Mimic, Aquacyte, Extremophile and Ionised Helix.

Start in India. Make sure to devolve every Symptom your Fungus mutates, so you won't get noticed.
Envolve Water 1 and Air 1
Envolve Drug Resistance 1
Envolve Water 2 and Air 2
Envolve Cold Resistance 1 and 2
Envolve Extreme Bioaerosol
Envolve Insect 1 and 2

Now you simply wait, keep devolving Symptoms and collecting DNA-points (if your Fungus has problems infecting the last view countries, just envolve 1-2 Spore Clouds).
If you infected the whole world envolve:
Insomnia, Paranoia, Inflammation, Paralysis, Coma and Total Organ Failure.
When the Cure starts envolve Genetic Hardening 1 (maybe 2 too if you need it)

If that's not enough, envolve:
Rash, Sweating, Skin Lesions, Necrosis, Hemorrhagic Shock and Internal Haemorrhaging

That should do the trick. At least it worked for me with 28% Cure left at the end.

1) Do NOT develop any transmissions, put these points into the spore pop ability instead.
2) Do Stay low! Hold off on evolving any symptoms atleast until you are discovered.

Fungi takes a long time to really start infecting people in a country. So the more infected countries you can get in the beginning, the better.

Start with either China or India. You will have atleast a couple hundred million infected before you are discovered, and HOPEFULLY, have some foothold in the other.

Focus on getting into as many countries as possible, as fast as possible using your abilities. Transmissions are for other lamer diseases.

Don't be afraid to throw some points into either hot or cold abilities is you are close to infecting the whole world, but some countries are being stubborn.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ICELAND AND GREENLAND. I have infected them both, and with max cold resistance... it takes... so.. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.. long. 2 in game years, and 35 infected in iceland. No one knows the virus exists... but it takes so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long.

Literally 7 billion infected and no one knows about it, it's just that my virus doesn't work in those two countries. XD
