Local Multiplayer
Where's the Local Multiplayer? I know that it is hard to make a game but me and my brother were so pumped for the Local Multiplayer and it's not there! If it is there I'm sorry but if it isn't please can you update it soon?

You can use the play with friends button to play locally

How?

I think he means a splitscreen game on the same computer.

Yeah, that's what Local Multiplayer is!

Thanks, Litwick!

My first thought was "Where does it say Local Co-op/Multiplayer", but then I realised it didn't ...

In terms of how hard it would be: how would you hide your actions from one another (unless it supported multimonitor, at which point it would be a trend-setter); and how would you handle inputs (multi-mouse cross-platform is really irritating and I don't know if Unity even supports it).

If you're hoping for local co-op, you're not alone ... local co-op (working together) would be awesome, even if it just boils down to two plagues handled by the same system.

Edit: to clarify, splitscreen would leave the world in a weird place and would suddenly require scrolling and a bunch of other aesthetics to be handled.

This was never something we planned on unfortunately. As Swixel says, there are lots of complications and it would require an entirely different UI

We aren't looking at doing this in the future either, sorry. As before, it would basically be an entirely different game.

What about as a DLC for the game, bringing in new stratergie with people on the the same computer, 'work together' or 'elimination'? I know it is different but I think it could make Ndemic a fair bit of money, if you add some other extras into the DLC! But it would be hard...

The idea that local multiplayer can't be done should be translated to: We don't want to bother because it is a lot of work and we are not sure we'll get our money back.

Work together or elimination is exactly the multiplayer right now. Local multiplayer makes no sense and also in terms of comfort you would need two mice. So its not "we don't want to bother" rather then "why would anybody want this?". Not every game needs local coop. And this game is one of them

I just think it would be fun to be able to be next to them when it happens and also "you would need two mice" is I-don't-know-what-a-controller-is talk!

Well then put a laptop beside the pc. So now you want controller support beside the local coop? How should the bubbles be poped etc.? Just demanding without any second thought.

It can not be that hard to get a controller and asign keys to different variables and controls within the game. Stop over thinking about this, they have said no for the near future so just leave it alone as controller support will not be that hard as this is not an first-person-shooter game and implementing another side bar for someone else wouldn't be as hard as you think as they have already implemented a few of the features needed for split screen!

lol, split screen is an old idea of allowing two people to play one game on one machine at the same time, since the begining of consoles.

Lets scroll to today's world. Everyone now has their own device. Sure there are families that cannot afford a device per kid, but then why target those families with a product, they have no money. Developers have their own kids to feed and bills to pay.

The majority of people nowadays own or have been provided with their own personal device. With Plague on PC (linux/mac/m$), Phones, Tablets, and hopefully sometime in the future Android TV.

Makes for split screen to be an obsolete feature. As everyone has their own device to play with.

Rather than, asking for obsolete features, and free games. Perhaps you and your brother should figure out how to make some money, and purchase a second device to play plague on. If you cannot afford plague, and have to beg for a free version.

Your problem is not with the game. Your problem is financial.
