It won’t disable the ones you’re describing however as they are an essential part to the game
It’s essential for the narrative. Also, some achievements actually require you to see specific pop-ups so disabling all of them would make getting those achievements very hard.
Knowing which country is beginning to develop a cure is much better than all of a sudden seeing the Cure progress begin to increase and stressing about which country started it. Plus I’d also like to know which country starts to shut everything down so I’m not surprised by a wave of border and airport/seaport shutdowns.
There is no real argument for not providing the option to disabling narrative pop-ups. Coolsy101 is incorrect. Also:
- The narrative pop-ups scale really badly with increased game speed, because other things must be clicked too, just as quickly.
- Narrative pop-ups block the view of some other ones. Such as if there's a mutation in the Caribbean.
- The narrative pop-ups are NOT important when for example you load a saved game and know that a country is close to collapse or another status. It's pure repetition.
- Narrative pop-ups obstruct the ACTUAL gameplay element of gaining more mutation points. Either one has to click that little ok button or use another key, such as the escape key when they come up.
- Narrative pop-ups also strain my eyes due to their sudden appearance actually.
- Narrative pop-ups don't even play a role in multiplayer, where it can also be argued there is a story of some kind. So it can be done.
TL;DR: Narrative pop-ups should have a disable option, because they obstruct gameplay and make playing really uncomfortable, repetitive and annoying. It would be a significant quality of life upgrade for me. There is nothing for the developers to lose by giving people this option.
