What do people think of when they hear the words “fake news”? They think of trump and the right wing calling out the liberal media. Which is exactly my point, a normal person is going to look at this in a different way than they were probably intending.
Basically I’m not sure what kind of agenda this is pushing anymore.
i think they threw darts at a dartboard until they landed on some term they'd heard of before, then they dove right in without thinking too hard
1) Dev makes spiritual sequel to Pandemic
2) Dev has cute fist-bump with the CDC, because plagues are scary and health education is good
3) Viral model also works for misinformation spread (and other 'viral' things, hence the term 'viral')
4) Devs have cute fist-bump with fact checkers because misinformation is bad and fact checking is good
5) ???
6) Right wing people assume dev is in debt
Anti-vaxxers are wrong, their wilful misinformation is causing a measles outbreak (source: the WHO). Flat Earthers are wrong, climate change denial is wrong, and peddling these falsehoods is not consequence free. Politicians have been using misinformation tactics for decades. Trump is the absolute worst of them with his alternative facts and racism. Putin does the same. And no, it is not excusable as being part of the political game. It is eroding truth, science, leadership and democracy.
these so called "fact checkers" arnt that, they're very partisan, and service only one particular side. they are not neutral players. they're literally playing the same political game.
politifact is a left-leaning political institution.
in signing this deal, did the developer have to rape a baby oncamera to seal the contract with blackmail? or did they just make him "eat the pain" instead?
The whole point of the "co-opt 'fake news'" adaptability option. As you can see it has worked in real life - on yourself. "Fake news" was in use long before Trump to describe birther claims against Obama and the various alleged improprieties of Hillary Clinton. Trump then co-opted it by repeating it ad nauseam whenever he heard something that he disagreed with, thus making it meaningless. The fact that the majority of demonstrably fake stories happen to be espoused by Republican post-neoconservatives is simply a coincidence of the times.
One example of how fake news BS evolves over time is that you can see the Illuminati as either a source or a blame in the manifesto. In real life, the Illuminati were just formed as a private club to discuss the rights of the non-Catholic faculty at a local university. It was basically just a fraternity. Now they're responsible for protecting Hillary Clinton and faking the moon landing or something, I dunno.
Keep in mind, discounting what someone says because "mean words" or "they have a ♥♥♥♥ view" is just silly. Even idiots can be correct on something.
I don't recommend engaging with them.
Especially considering that some of the new achievements are only there because of political reasons.
I couldnt care less about that, but banning people is really bad style.
its worse than that they are removing posts that brake the storylines they are pushing
