On a more serious note, just like with Simian Flu and Neurax Worm, exterminating humanity is only one way among several to win the scenario. You could also simply enslave humanity by developing the Shadow Slaves symptom and infecting every human on Earth. That way, they would live but serve the vampires.
A hybrid game that included both vampires and zombies would be fun... too bad the engine's not set up for that.
The real question is, what about all the other plagues that wipe out humanity and now have no more hosts, rendering them extinct?
