Do people actually like this game?
First off let me assure you that I have nothing against this game and I ask this question only to sate my own curiousity about it.

Its just that I find it somewhat peculiar since this game is effectivly an educational game meant to teach people how to type, and going off the "typing games I was forced to play in school many years ago. I can't help but wonder since they were not surprisingly crap.

So I must ask is this game actually good or do people like this game out of a sort of strange irony (like its so terrible that it is somehow awesome) I'd really like to know.

You should be able to answer that question yourself. By asking yourself whether you could enjoy having your typing skills tested and compare them to those of other people.
Just google and look at "typera" - not exactly few people in that highscore list over there.

It's a typing game, but it's not one for school kids due to the pervasive amount of language and gore. Essentially I bought this game because it's stupidly fun, and it's more of a way to challenge your typing skills rather than actually learning to type.

ya this is a challenging game not a learning game when it comes to typing.

Really like the game.

There are mainly 3 categories of people who would like this game

- People who are fans of the House of the Dead series
- People who like Typing games (the only other typing game I can think of on Steam is Typer Shark, so you can see why people would like this game)
- The rest

Honestly if a person is trying to learn how to type, I can't see any reason why they would want to buy this game, the game doesn't advertise itself as such a game. I know what you mean by the typing games you were forced to go through in school years ago lol, the crap where you had to place all ten fingers on the keyboard on specific letters to improve your typing speed and so on... no such crap here, type whatever and however you like.

And for people who are not so good at typing games, this game isn't that difficult either to put off such players, the campaigns are pretty easy to get through because there are unlimited continues. This is the main problem I feel that is only for these games, it is an ok game for people who love typing but not really that wonderful for hardcore typing game players. An endless mode or something would be a nice introduction. The game does get repetitive after a while though.

Even if you do not really like typing, I found the cut scenes to be pretty humourous and funny and some of the sentences they said, had a good laugh through the playthrough

Very nostalgic game as well for fans of SEGA, SEGA Dreamcast, House of the Dead, and the original Typing of the Dead game for DC and PC. I love all the HOTD and TOTD games. The typing versions are very unique, there isn't really anything else like them. They don't teach you how to type, they just challenge how fast you can. There are also 4 different difficulty settings. If you already know how to type, even in a basic form, this game is a blast. There isn't anything else really like it. I'm not sure how fun it is if you type with 2 fingers though.

If you like cheesy action films and you don't mind typing, this is a great game.

You don't even need a keyboard to play, just use a mouse and shoot away, nothing educational about that.

Interesting, In any case I guess I shouls apologize for my writing it off as a educational game, but given my past experience with typing games I'm sure you can see how I came to that belief.

Despite this though I think I'll have to pass on this game. Zombie and typing games don't really appeal to me, and in the formers case they are so cliche at this point that if they stopped making games and movies on them today it would take a century before they would cease to be so.

Yeah I figured as such that that was part of the reason.

If you don't like typing games, it comes with the original Overkill, which is a light gun game.

I really enjoy this game... mostly because I like to work on my typing skills and this adds a level of fun to it. But I do look at it more as a practice rather than a game.

Glad you enjoy it :)
It's a classic, been around for as long as the design makes it look. Although they recently updated the "game" itself - used to be better readable and didn't jitter all over the place. Gotta hate it when people just have to "improve" things.

In all honesty, I am planning on getting this for educational purposes. I'm not BAD at typing per se, but this looks like a fun way to get better. I've also watched a lot of this game, and it is a hilrarious parody of zombie games and B movies, with cool levels and bosses.
This was my favourite game on the Wii (tied with MadWorld) and I'm glad it's on the PC. I love it because they have a Samuel L Jackson impersonator, motherf***er.
