Game Can't Start - Keeps Crashing
Every time I try to open up the game, my screen flashes black, as if it is trying to play, but then it goes back to my desktop and never runs.

I've checked the steamapps folder for the game, and I see a long list of crash.dmp files...

What should I do to fix this? I've tried running in -sw mode and offline mode, and this still happens Thanks for the help in advance.

Was happening to me with an All-in-one/laptop computer with nvidia and integrated graphics processors. To work around it do this:

Open Nvidia control panel > Manage 3d settings (left side) > Program settings (tab) > choose The typing of the dead > Change "Select the preferred graphics processor" to "integrated".

Haven't tested it, but made it to the menu.

Good luck.

I have the same problem. I tried that solution and that didn't help. I also tried reinstalling it and that didn't help either. Turned off DLC, still can't play. Sooo annoying

Have you tried changing the launch options in steam? One computer managed to work after changing the launch options to: disable-post-processing fullscreen=1

Also, you might have to manually browse the local game folders and install the elements in the _CommonRedist folder and restarting.

This is for anyone still having this problem. The solution I found was that Windows 10 was superceding the NVidia Control Panel Settings. There's even a mention in the Control Panel that "Windows OS now manages sections of the graphics processor."

I opened up the Windows Graphics Settings (there was a link in the NVIDIA Control Panel in the Programs Setting Tab) > Select "Desktop App" to set preference > browed for Typing of the Dead: Overkill start file > Select Options and set the game to "Power Saving" mode (which I imagine is the equivalent to 'Integrated Graphics') > Save > Run the game again.

Hope that helps some people.
