Question to people who own this
Hi guys,

My 9-year-old son keeps pestering me to get him this game because he claims that it will teach him to type. So, I have two questions: 1) is the game appropriate for a 9-year-old and 2) can it really teach you to touch-type ? Thanks for the feedback !

I, personally, would not give this game to a 9 year old, and it can improve your typing skills.

Don't buy this game unless you want your kid to "fxxk this and fxxk that".

Instead, better get the original Typing of the Dead, it has proper tutorial for touch typing. And words are more sarcastic and funny.

Too bad it isn't on Steam, and likely can't buy anywhere online...
Though it's still compatible with Windows 10.

Thanks gents ! This input helped a lot. I showed your responses to my son and now he believes that it's not just me being a boring ole' dad for refusing to buy it !

The game has a lot of swearing in it.

Otherwise it's an excellent game to practice your typing skills. The original Typing of the Dead was a bit better as a typing aid specifically. Since it included an elaborate tutorial.

At one point this game held the Guinness World Record for most swearing in a videogame ever.

No kidding. If I had a penny for every time Isaac cursed, I'd have enough money to cure diabetes. Twice.
Actually this game is banned in Germany. I assume due to violence...but theres alot of swear words in this aswell.

Just going through the story mode right now and yeah, it's very profane. However maybe non-story mode with something like Shakespeare, dance with the dead or love at first bite dlc would make it more benign I reckon - but I can't confirm yet. In the 90s, I would slap at it ye good olde sticker "parental advisory" or parental supervision advised for sure.

Honestly, it's not appropriate for a 9-year old, unless you and your husband go around the house dropping MF-Bombs all day. There's also a bit of nudity and questionable adult content. That said, I assume it CAN help with typing. I type pretty fast, but what really helped me in this game was getting a mechanical keyboard. I learned on an electronic typewriter back in '95-'96, so I needed that clicky feel of a good mechanical keyboard. But yeah, don't let him get this. It's pretty vulgar.

There is a lot of swear words but this is something your 9 year old will hear a lot of in real life too. I have an uncle who swears in every sentence and has 2 daughters around your son's age. Their mum (and dad too) taught them not to take after daddy so they've learnt not to include them in their speech. Maybe you can guide your son too in this :)
