Strange we haven't had any issues like that so far. Did you get any error messages on crash? Would love to know what caused it and fix it
Try opening the demo and then the game.
Steam seems to have some cache issues in some cases
1) I installed the non demo, and it did the same thing.

A. installed the demo version
B. launched demo, which did passed the "orb sphere of death"
C. while demo was running, i launched the non demo, which now did pass the "orb schere of death", but had the same message saying it was the demo (as the demo did).
D. closed both, and could launch the non-demo
