Widescreen Resolution
Is there anyway to get the game to run in 2560 x 1080 ... (my default resolution)
Everything else is too small of really squashed.

That is not a normal monitor resoulution so thats why you might be having problem seeing the option on the start up screen, 2560x1440 is.

My monitor's resolution is 2560*1080 too. Same problem.

It's a very normal resolution. I have an epic monitor :) I'm running the game in a window at this point. Too bad.

Nothing above 1900 shows up for me in the option screen.
Very bad News, another game not compatible with Ultra Wide Screen, is not really difficult to make game compatible with this resolution...Dev make an effort..please.

Hi everyone, we'll check this.
Thanks!

More people on Steam are running 800x600 (0.1%) than 2560x1080 (0.04%), so no, it's not a normal resolution. It's a bit disingenuous to expect games to actively support something so niche as ultra widescreen, IMO. Instead you should be grateful if/when they go out of their way to do so.

Seriously. It always rubs me the wrong way when people with ridiculously niche monitors act like they're in 5 out of 10 households and any dev that doesn't cater to their native resolution is lazy and/or dumb.

Steam's Hardware Survey doesn't lie - 2560 x 1080 is used BY LESS THAN A 1/10 OF A PERCENT OF PLAYERS.

It is pathetic to read that in 2014, yes we are in the 21st century .. how is this possible? it is "simply" to ensure that the game supports all kinds of resolutions, this is already happening in many other games ...

Well, it's one thing for 3D games being configurable to output at virtually any resolution, but in the case of a hand-painted one like Kingdom Rush, it's a bit more complicated than simply changing a line in a .cfg file.

In normal aspect ratios you're just going to have it scaled up in size from 720p or whatever the art was originally made for, but with ultra widescreen, it would take a lot of work to not just have it stretched like crazy in the horizontal directions. You don't just tell the game to display more stuff in a larger field of view like you would in an FPS, you would have to create additional art to fill that space.

That's something that probably just isn't worth it for a small studio, if the alternative is simply telling that potential 0.04% audience "sorry, but you should run it in a window." I mean really, let's be reasonable here... Maybe you could get together with the other ~30k people (probably less, depending on how many of Steam's 75 million are actual active accounts and not dupes or bots) and promise to all buy the game if they come through with ultra widescreen support.

I hope the flawless widescreen application will be compatible this great game with our ultra wide screens. Jacobvandy thank you for your reply

Hi everyone!
Unfortunately the game doesn't run with the aspect ratio in that screen resolution :(
The only option is to play windowed.
Thanks for understanding :)

I would suggest fullscreen letterbox. Most graphics card driver tools allow automatic letterboxing when specific games/programs are run. Just select the biggest resolution the game offers, 1080 high for minimal letterboxing.

I always forget that asking questions on here isn't the best thing to do. Next time I'll go direct to the developer with these kinds of questions. I asked here because sometimes players have figured out mods or cfg things etc for certain games.

As far as monitors and resolution, I don't know anyone who runs those kinds of monitors or resolutions you speak of and maybe that's just because of the profession I'm in. To me the monitor I have is pretty standard or other people are running duals or multi. It's not niche to me ... but I guess I'm just in a different crowd. My monitor is kind of old compared to the rest of my friends and collegues. It's no offense to other people, that's just not the world I live in. Sorry.

The only game that I cannot run in this resolution is StarCraft 2 and they've stated that they don't allow it because it would give an unfair advantage to players ... which makes sense in multiplayer but not really single player.

I play Kingdom Rush on my iPaD normally so I've no problem with running it in a window. It's just a shame I can't run it larger. I didn't say it somehow ruins the game or anything or that I'm not going to play it or something. That kind of art looks better smaller in my opinion. It's just great on my iPad. Really beautiful game :)

Yes I needed to make a few changes to my settings so the monitor would letterbox it. I've never had to do that before so I was looking in the game itself instead of just adjusting settings on my end. The scaling was the problem on my video card I think. Thank you.
