Fungal Forest Spiders
So I'm really enjoying the newest level, Fungal Forest. Its not NEARLY as rough as the underworld duo that came out last time. I feel like I have a fighting chance-- however wave two always takes half my hearts away. The noxious creepers just steamroll over me and I go from 20 to 10 or nine all in one rush of too-many-legs. Has anyone figured out a tower configuration to halt such a sudden hard push, so early in the game?

1. Obviously you can't stop sheer enough bodies with defenders, as they won't die fast enough.
2. They have medium magic resistance, so nuking wizards are out.
3. Tesla coils aren't powerful enough, given how fast they move.
4. Archers don't do sheer enough damage to stop the big ones.

I'm at a loss. Wave 2 should not be such a massive rush, so soon in the levels arc of difficulty. I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone survived wave 2 with ZERO monsters getting by???

Tesla is more than powerful enough.

If I recall correctly I saved up my meteor shower for that first rush; also, barracks DO work when you put them early enough on the path. While fighting, they don't spawn spiderlings..... Of course, Thor assisting the barracks might have had something to do with that success though I did it again in the Iron challenge.

Be warned though: UPGRADE your barracks because every dead soldier becomes a husk! Paladins/Barbarians are good; simple footmen only add to your misery ;-)

Best way to handle Noxxious Creepers is a Tesla with max points in overcharge. The splash damage will handle the spiderlings, thus making sure the primary arc is always hitting the creeper or other larger baddies in its range. On Fungal Forest I max overcharge on Teslas first for this reason.

The key to this level is the elves. Summon four of them at the very beginning. Then, set them in the middle. Nuke the coming husks and kite the swamp things NEAR them, using a melee hero. Place recinforcements at the next swamp thing in line to keep it away from the first one and avoid a pile-up. The elves will power down the swamp thing with their bows from where they're standing in the middle, and deal with husks as they come. Each giant is worth a lot of gold, which you can spend on archery towers, which are strong enough for the little spiders, and then send your melee hero after the big spider. The elves will be your last and very active line of defense, so make sure there's always four.

Build archers and purple towers on the west side to power things down as fast as you can, and build heavy archers in the east. AOE from the middle positions, as Swamp Things will come from all sides near the end. Don't be afraid to sell stuff to make room for bust damage, as Swamp Things have 3000 health.

An orange wizard on the western-most point is a must, as early as you can get it.

P.S. I recommend Thor as a hero for this level.
