This may be a long shot, but you could try temporarily disabling your security software. It could be "blocking" the game.
Otherwise, you could look for a file named output_log.txt in
steamapps\common\Kingdom Rush\Kingdom Rush_Data
On my system, that file has some messages from the game as it did this and that. I don't know exactly what kinds of info the game puts in that file, but the last lines might tell you something.
Well, disabling security software doesn't change a thing.
That output_log.txt says -> http://puu.sh/pGqww/1ff9340605.png (I'va had the following problem a lot, NO it's not some virus or any ♥♥♥♥, it's a freaking screenshot)
It says sth about making sure the steam_api.dll/libsteam_api.dylib file is placed at the correct location
all I have is steam_api.dll, tried to put it in every every foulder i have but still doesn't work. What is this libsteam thing, can I get it anywhere?
steamapps\common\Kingdom Rush\Kingdom Rush_Data\Mono
but the only things I have in that folder are a folder named etc and a file named mono.dll . There is no "SteamworksNative" stuff there, or buried in that etc folder. So I don't know what the game is looking for there.
But there is a SteamworksNative.dll and a steam_api.dll back in the main KR folder. Maybe there's a problem with one of those, so the game is looking for it in other places? You could have Steam verify the game cache (which would probably be a good idea anyway) and see if anything is missing/corrupt.
A friend of mine installed and started it through the steam family thing where you can share you games and then we compared every folder and file. On his Laptop everything is working just fine, on mine it just closes itself everytime without even a fu*king error message.
We 2 also have nearly the same laptop so I don't know what could be wrong :I

One thing is to try disabling the Steam overlay. That apparently fixed a problem for at least one person.
The other is a post from the developer, suggesting that someone send them an email with the output_log.txt file that I mentioned earlier, so that they could take a look at it. That might be worth a shot.
Disabling overlay also doesn't work qq
Hi Ponicx,
We are so sorry that you are experiencing this issue.
We will check your output log and tell you what we find.
Hang in there.

Well I'm a fan of your work. Played the game when it first came out together with a friend, we both love everything about it so I decided to buy the full version on steam for getting you something back <3
Keep up the good work
Did the game ever work on your system? I'm guessing "no", but if it did work in the past, what has changed since then?
If you've made sure that the files are in the right place (and verifying the cache or a reinstall should do that), then it's hard to understand why the game can't seem to load them.
This is a longshot, but if you happen to be running Win 10, you could try running the game from a different Windows account. I've seen some people with odd problems that seemed to be caused by the permissions, etc. for a particular Windows 10 account, but when they used a different account, the problem went away. I doubt that that's your problem, but you could give it a try.
I think the problem is that it searches for SteamworksNative in the mono folder. But I only have SteaworksNative.dll and if I change the .dll to nothing the whole filetype changes. So could it be that it needs to search for SteamworksNative.dll? I just don't know how to make the game do that.
Didn't work for me I'm afraid
Yeah, I don't know what the Mono folder references are about, since the files in question presumably aren't supposed to be there (they're not there on my system either). My best (pretty much only :-) guess is that the game can't see/load them from the normal location, for whatever reason, so it goes searching for them, and Mono is just where it is when it gives up and gives you the error.
As for making the game find the files, normally things like that are in some specific folder, or just the program's main folder (in this case, steamapps\common\Kingdom Rush), and it finds them automatically.
Are you running Win 10? Did you try running the game from a different Windows account?
Also, just for the heck of it, you could try running the game as administrator, or with different compatibility modes.
I have all the files and it says that everything is at the right spot when I let steam verify the game cache
Yes I did
Also did that
I mean, there has to be a solution for the problem somewhere right? ._.
