I haven't played since the new update, so I don't know what might have changed in that. However, if you haven't played the game recently, the real change came a while back, when they released a new version (not just a minor update). The main reason for the new version was changing the game to use a newer game engine, to make future maintenance easier, but they also added a couple of new achievements, and "activated" the Sunray tower on one map (the tower could be used in other versions, but it didn't work in the old Steam version). You can read a bit more about the new version in the Beta forum section (the current version was originally available as a beta version).
But they apparently also "tweaked" some towers and/or enemies, and at least some parts of the game are a lot harder now.
FYI, if you prefer the old version, I think I read that you can still get it by going into the game Properties in Steam and choosing to install the "Legacy" version.
If you read just a little it will save you from wasting your time.
Thank you, it worked :-) I tried that challenge for hours before...
The Difficulty of this 'added' Levels like this is absolute not balanced and kill all the fun in the game.
This is, why I don't buy the rest of Parts of this former absolute fantastic Tower Defense Game.
Nightfang Swale was easy: I put 2 teslas at the tips (left and right) of the start, and max out Overcharge (what is Supercharged bolt for? Is it only for big crowds? I have no idea what it does). In the gaps I put Sorcerers with elementals for crowd control. There was maybe one rain of fire that was really important (right after you get the first sorcerer).
My first 2 Teslas were the same as in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8UjVCHIgqs
Afterwards it was all Sorcerers.
