Honestly, practice and time. Part of the fun with fighting game isn't just the 1v1 fighting, but training mode perfecting your execution.

i agree 100% and figured will take time with this one, as i know main reason i have easier time with the other fighters i play is they are just sequels to long time series i played my whole life.
i dont plan on giving up any time soon, and haven't tried every character yet so im sure will figure it out as i go.

I'm no expert in fighting games, and I feel that this game's input window is more lenient than average. I managed to complete 5 of the 10 characters so far, and I've never managed to complete a single character in SF4 for instance. Honestly the combo challenges are pretty fun
Same here. What I am finding is that when the game indicates a qtr circle back, it actually counts between down and back for example.

Versus long running series indicating a qtr circle back to just mean down+left (think old school scorpion teleport in MK).

This gets frustrating for players like me who prefer dpad instead of control stick, since I am never that precise on the stick, and my fingers seem to forget to hold both the back and down buttons to count the inbetween input.

Still, this is an amazing game (they did my boy Getter justice, despite being hard af to master), but I feel like I will never be as competent as others.

I guess you're too used to MK. QTR Circle always counted the diagonals, just too few games ignore that.
To make the motion you don't press "down" and then press "back", you simply put your finger on "down" and move/slide towards "back", for example. Just by that you will get the "down back" along the way.

every combo challenge have the option to watch a demonstration. If you're having problems executing the combo, try watching the demo to learn the correct time to press the buttons, pay attention to the animations of the character to know better when it's the time to do the next move.
