Build updates
OK, here's the requested thread that I'll post build updates in from now on. Until release, all build updates will take effect in both the demo and main app (for anyone who has a key).

Build update: November 4, 2024
  • Added performance options: Low, Medium, High, Ultra
  • Auto-set performance option when player starts (check the Video menu to select your own!)
  • Split out Audio and Camera options to new submenus
  • Large performance improvements in the forest
  • New Stag Beetle Mother event in the Forest
  • Plus, a better way to roll compost in the forest
  • Significantly increased Stamina regen rate
  • New music in beach area
  • Changed combat music in tree interior and forest
  • Replaced the widely disliked error and pickup sounds
  • Control change in snake minigame: now uses mouse pointer instead of arrow keys (controller users are unchanged)
  • Color improvements in snake minigame (colorblind people, let us know if it helped!)
  • Changed Japanese font
  • Fixed some Chinese / Japanese font issues

The performance-related updates in this build were fairly massive, and there may still be issues in Low / Medium that we haven't found yet.

I didn't forget, it has been right there on my to-do list with a few dozen other things :steammocking:

Build update: November 24, 2024, version 0.5.2
  • New nest menu added with many features, including...
  • Teleport menu: move around the game with style and ease
  • Size menu: now easier to track where your points went; scaling formula redone, negatives removed
  • Skins menu: changes to color sliders
  • Reset Area button: in case you want to grind enemies
  • Entering the nest now heals the player and resets enemy positions (does not reset the area)
  • You can now have three attacks of any mixed types, with three separate remappable controls for them
  • Keybinds: arrow keys can now be rebound (for example to replace WASD)
  • Keybinds: new setting setting for 2nd melee attack (no more randomly selecting the attack)
  • Keybinds: allowed controller zoom button to be rebound
  • Names added for all the different attack types (like bite, lick, sting, etc)
  • Fixed a bug with aiming ranged attacks on controller
  • Grampa Mushroom actually hands out his beard instead of just saying he will
  • Fixed various skin blending issues
  • Increased turn speed for most torsos, removed Turn Speed as a stat
  • A few other part stats tweaks

Pretty big update, give us a shout if any bugs are detected!

I fell through the map in the first cavern underwater and the game stopped responding when i became a salamander and talked to the salamander statue.

The controls are weird because you keep sliding or something when you turn as if im an 18 ton truck trying to steer.

The climbing is completely insane, sometimes i climb when walking on a slope somehow. (first salamander boss crater slopes for example)

The levels are too 2 dimensional so it seems that the weird climbing is just made as an effort to keep the levels flat. The levels setup reminded me of the very first 3d games, very, very basic and boring.

It would be cool to see a lot of things everywhere that you cant initially reach, giving you a taste of the future evolutions opportunities.

Add shiny encounters for special coloured parts for examples or parts with certain skills.

The attack of the bugs themselves make no sense at all, like for real, you couldnt use the creatures existing traits as a basis for the attacks? I mean a firespitting lizzard? A beatle that uses some rollout attack? A huge lizzard that stomps the earth with fireblasts? Nothing makes sense in this game, either replace the bugs with fantasy creatures or change the attacks to something befitting of the bugs.

I like the idea just as i liked spore's idea and this game makes the exact same mistakes,
Dont make this game the generic stuff you get everytime nowadays, make it jam-packed with features, content, surprises and challenges. I mean, the inside of the tree looks more like a cave then anything else, nothing makes sense.

We've updated the demo for the end of January! Here is the change log:
  • Three new creature shrines (starfish/conch, squirrel, devil's coach beetle)
  • Dodge and block abilities on certain creature parts
  • Save slots for creatures allowing you to swap outside a nest (after you pick up a special item that's hidden somewhere)
  • Creature bestiary showing what you've met and which parts you're missing
  • New accessories menu with full customization of position, scale, rotation, etc
  • Creature movement tweaks including faster turn speed and less friction against walls
