We know how difficult the whole game is and that, unfortunately, crashes and instability can make it difficult to proceed through the labyrinths of this game, to say the least.
You're right, Johan is a damned crazy prophet who doesn't make much easier for those who have bravely decided to enter the world of Etrom...
After you make your choice he still returns to the temple.
After that you should find the "Circle of Lux's Power" which is located in a dungeon in the "Land of the Abyss".
Once you have passed this mission you will have to face a few more missions for the order of the absolute of which you are now an adept after having made your choice.
But fear not, you are quite close to the victorious end of your journey.

Storytime: We're happy to hear that the game was still played and enjoyed in 2010, thanks for the detail.
When there was the first release of Etrom Steam practically did not exist and we had enormous problems with the publishers who took care of the largest Anglo-American markets: 0 PR and Marketing and 0 Royalties (fraudulent bankruptcies often hit independent developers in that period).
If there had been a platform like this at the time, everything would have been different and we would have also released many more patches and improvements (which we always had in mind, but lacked the resources to implement them).
More than 20 years after the conception and development of this project, which is very vast especially for the setting, the feeling of nostalgia is quite "natural", even if only for the technology and aesthetics which reflect this almost archaeological age for a video game.
On the other hand, from the beginning we conceived both the narrative setting and the aesthetic setting as "dark" to give this feeling of the end of time of human worlds which perhaps had once been luminous (even only in dreams, or in the minds of the gods).
As for the game engine: it's a miracle of faith that it continues to work. It's a proprietary engine written with the madness of youthful enthusiasm. The original development team, except for me, the game designer, no longer exists. We have no source code left here in AoG.
May the Absolute be with you! ;)
Thanks for your help, I have finally finished the game after all these years. Feels like I got closer to something - IDK what, maybe my own Astral Essence.
It was a good journey. There were a few bugs here and there, and I felt that the project is unfinished - but I did not mind it, it was a good run.
And by unfinished I mean that I have a hunch that you had plans to expand the universe of the game, add more loot/equipment, dive deeper into the story.
Thanks for your time you put into making the game!
P.s.: After all these years, I could finally equip the Amulet of Death. Worth the grind.

Hearing your story makes me feel sad. I can only just imagine what could it been - hunting for a publisher, licensing, all the money and resources you had to spend to make this game.
I have feeling that you are still passionate about this project - the respond time to these questions, the way you respond, it just gives me this vibe that Etrom lives in your head rent-free. :D
As for the game engine - software based vertex calculations back in those day, wild idea. Making an engine from the scratch - even wilder, but hey, you did it!
A quick question: are you Fabio? During the credits, that was the name of the game designer, I was wondering!

Here is the thing tho - I am studying Computer Science Engineering.
If you see any chance that you and the team want to revive the IP, could you notify me? I am up for anything that comes with QA.
Also, now that I think about it, I have a hunch my lil bro would be up for web-development related things.
That's why I asked for the source code as well - if I had a chance, I would have checked it and do what I can to make the game better.
Thanks again, for your time, for this whole experience, and yeah. For this whole journey, again, it was a good run, I feel that a part of me is complete now!
Thank you for playing and completing Etrom.
And thank you for your kind words.
Yes, you're right, this project is partly a "great unfinished work" and a bit of a "tormented ghost".
Yes, in this case it is me, Fabio Belsanti, who answers.
In our super independent structure I often take care of the answers here on Steam.
Although Etrom's video game remains unfinished, its narrative universe lives on. The novel, published in Italy in 2015, was a small best seller and gave birth to a new universe that we are working on to create a narrative hardcore RPG.
Thank you for your voluntary QA contribution, we will try to notify you as soon as we have builds to playtest.
Feel free to connect with us on all our social channels.
Finding me specifically on the internet is quite easy: I'm the only Fabio Belsanti in existence, I don't have any namesakes :D
