How to Remove Black Bars! + Change FOV + Disable Motion Blur! + Disable Chromatic Aberration!
The most asked question on the visuals of this game probably is how to disable the black bars + Change FOV! Here is how:

Method 1 - just the Black Bars (simpler):

1. Go to C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Hellblade2\Saved\Config\Windows
if you can'lt find C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local because it is a hidden folder by default then type %localappdata% into windows search. For future use on the windows explorer click on the view tab and check Hidden Items on the right

2. Open Engine.ini

3. At the bottom of the file copy paste:

[SystemSettings]
r.NT.AllowAspectRatioHorizontalExtension=0
r.NT.EnableConstrainAspectRatio=0

Method 2- Black Boxes + FOV Adjustment (more complicated)

1. Download Flawless widescreen
link: https://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/ or google it.

2. Download Plugin extensions for more supported games for Flawless Widescreen
link: https://mega.nz/folder/BFhw0aCI#lt53MMZ5Cqebqji6yGL0-Q
Download the latest one (version 1.0.25)

3. Locate where Flawless widescreen is installed on an explorer
This should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Flawless Widescreen

4. Now, unzip the archive in this folder overwriting any already existing files. Use password "cs.rin.ru" for the archive

5. Open Flawless widescreen find the game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II under K4sh Plugins on the left panel

6. Check all the fixes you want and adjust slider (Both FOV Fix and Aspect ratio fix). Specifically set in game FOV Adjustment to 17 for default FOV (minus black bars) or some other value as prefered

7. That's all. Now launch your game and load your savegame and it should be fixed.

How to disable Motion Blur and Chromatic Abberation

1. Go to C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Hellblade2\Saved\Config\Windows

2. Open Engine.ini

3. At the bottom of the file copy paste:

[SystemSettings]
r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=0
r.MotionBlurQuality=0
r.NT.Lens.ChromaticAberration.Intensity=0
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0

Thank me later!

The Flawless Widescreen plugin does NOT yet work for the Gamepass version

It works for the Steam version.

Thanks for the info. That Flawless Widescreen plugin doesn't seem to work with the Gamepass version right now, but thankfully the default FOV is about what I'd normally use.

It works!
I was so tired the other night I was trying to do this on my own, but was looking for "Senua's Saga" because that's the game file folder in the "common" folder. But the save data and .ini files are in the hidden folder under "Hellblade2." Duh!

Works! Thanks.

At least in the Gamepass version, the route seems to be:

C:\Users\********\AppData\Local\Hellblade2\Saved\Config\WinGDK

the first method doesn't just remove the black bars. It adjusts the game to render at your display's aspect ratio. You can verify this by taking screenshots before and after.

Another method is to download the 2 files from here and that's it, all gone:

So we don't lose horizontal space with this method?

Nope, I can confirm that you lose horizontal space. It's a tad trickier than that, on cutscenes you will actually gain vertical space and keep the same horizontal space, but the minute you start gameplay the FOV changes, and the horizontal frame shrinks.

You do because the game is adjusting properly. They're not just adding black bars over a 16:9 image. They're forcing the game to render at the 2.39:1 equivalent resolution for your display. For example at 4K it renders at 3840x1607 instead of 3840x2160.
Regarding the second method, setting the FOV to 0 in flawless was the closest to the original for me, achieving the effect of "just removing the black bars". Setting it at 17 would give me way more horizontal space than the game had at default.

Pretty sure FOV does not work for gamepass. Did you manage to get FOV to work in it? How ?

Flawless widescreen is a joke. Shove it back up.
