Its pretty much the exact same thing as the first game, just prettier and even more scripted and railroaded.
If you liked the first game for the story, atmosphere and style you will like this too.
If you expected any evolution in gameplay or mechanics you will most likely be disappointed.
And yes the combat is actually even simpler then in 1 which is kind of a feat.
Overall so far i am not mad that i played it and i will finish it but it has a strong " why does this even exist?" kind of feeling to it. We already gone through this story with Senua in the first game and it was resolved fine. I dont think more was needed.
