Can I do this without the first?

I just haven't done the first, always meant to, but I'm a slacker. Thinking of checking 2 out anyway. Thoughts?

P.S. I've watched long form videos on the entire story and game. I'm fully aware of the mental illness aspects, and also suffer from them myself. :)

EDIT: How long is the first game to play? I ask because I have OCD. I spent ALOT of time looking at objects, walls, inspecting every corner of a game etc. Being a cinematic experience, I feel I'd still need a fair few sessions and focused time set aside.

First Game was something between five (if you rush through the Game!) to eight hours, depending on if you are taking your time with exploring each region or not.

Considering that and your Edit i would say that you should be able to finish it over an single weekend and yes, you definitly should play the first Game because there are a few links between the Hellblade Games.

But make sure that you buy it during an sale and not at an full price. The first Game is currently being sold at Humble Bundle at 2,99€ . Go and get it!.

Thanks! I've got the game on another platform. I will maybe do them in order then. As you can see, I'm not in a rush. I have HB2 on gamepass, so I can do it literally any time in the future.
