Guide To Disable - Black Bars, Motion Blur, Chormatic Aberration + Other Effects
1. Whether you're playing the game via Steam or Xbox Game Pass you'll first need to locate the "Engine.ini" file in either of these paths. (Ensure you have hidden files visible)

Steam: C:\Users\<YOUR NAME>\AppData\Local\Hellblade2\Saved\Config\Windows

Game Pass: C:\Users\<YOUR NAME>\AppData\Local\Hellblade2\Saved\Config\WinGDK

2. Open the "Engine.ini" file.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the text and paste the details below.

[SystemSettings]
r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=0
r.MotionBlurQuality=0
r.NT.Lens.ChromaticAberration.Intensity=0
r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantizatiion=0
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.FilmGrain=0
r.NT.DOF.NTBokehTransform=0
r.NT.LensDistortion.Stretch=0
r.NT.Lens.Distortion.Intensity=0
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
r.NT.DOF.RotationalBokeh=0
r.NT.AllowAspectRatioHorizontalExtension=0
r.Tonemapper.Quality=0
r.NT.EnableConstrainAspectRatio=0

[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainXFOV

*If you want to play with the black bars but with no DOV, M/Blur etc just remove the line (r.NT.EnableConstrainAspectRatio=0)

Enjoy!

Edit: Updated guide to include Dude Guyman's suggestion (see below).

Bro made the game playable for me. Thanks

I really hope the studio can just fix the game. Haven't made it past the menu because it looked so bad no matter how I adjusted things and what's with the black bars literally causing weird resolution settings. HDR is completely broken. Considered requesting a refund until they release some patches.

Hopefully these settings can help fix things. I'd prefer HDR to work too. Playing without it is like playing at 1/3 of the brightness of my oled screens. It's like I'm in eyecare mode or something.

Worked perfectly on Game Pass. Thanks!

Appreciated :steamthumbsup:. I'll give these settings a try when I buy the game.

If you want a proper FOV without zooming in and cutting off the sides, also add:

[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainXFOV

edit: did not notice any performance changes. If so they were tiny.

You can adjust the level of Motion Blur applied to the rapid camera movements from 0 (none) to 10 (high) within the game via "Settings / Graphics / Accessibility"
