It is pretentious piece of work which doesn't have a lot to say, but makes elitists feel like they belong to some special group.

Aestetically it is presented through dull realism lacking anything interesting, no match for Elden Ring. Sound is generic and doesn't really have anything special, be it gameplay indicator like Left4Dead or Vermintide, setting location atmosphere like Fallout 1-2 or pumping you up in a fight like Serious Sam. Storywise it tells what everybody already knows - mental illness sucks (what a surprise). Plus it is rather blunt and lacks subtlety, while subtlety and food for thoughts is what really makes a good art piece.

should have released this on Netflix at this point
It's only positive cause all the negative reviewers didn't buy the game. So all that is left is hardcore fans.

I am fine with playing horror "walking simulators" that focus on atmosphere and story over actual gameplay because these are usually priced sensibly for what you get.

However, I have to take issue with Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 because while it looks great, sounds even better and has tons of atmosphere, the overall experience doesn't seem to justify the price of £50 for the 77 minutes I've played so far of what is supposed to be a 5 hour game. In those 77 minutes there has been very little actual gameplay; just a few very scripted one on one fights and a whole lot of walking through dull barren rocky environments.

It does make me question whether the amount of time and money needed to make these kind of games is really worth it when all the effort has been put into how it looks and sounds, but not so much in how it plays. This could have just been a movie and would likely have looked even better and cost less to make!

I agree that something like this would have been a great mini-series, but by way of being presented as an interactive medium, everyone gets to experience it in a way that is unique to them, even if the experience isn't super complex.

There will eventually come a time where more and more 'movies' will be playable or have interactive elements, or maybe certain characters in a TV series will be controlled by the people watching, like a CYOA experience. Games like Detroit Become Human already let players see what kinds of decisions the rest of the community made for each character.

As virtual live-streaming becomes more popular in the next generations of technology and people, these kinds of interactive community events are just going to be a thing that people get together for on a national or international level.
