5 hours is nonsense and doesn't reflect the average experience whatsoever, I think we can agree on that. What people mean when they say 5 hours is that they can find youtube videos that are like 5:20 long. None of them have actually watched those videos (so it's even possible they contain cuts, as those walkthrough videos often do). And they just don't represent what the average player will do. HLTB is proof of that. Doesn't matter that it's possible to beat it in 5:20. Most players will take longer.
I will also say that it was a fantastic experience which I won't forget for a while. This kind of experience is worth a lot more to me than the next generic open world game. Hoping for a successor in a few years. :)
I have loved the game so far. it feels different from the 1st in that there is very little choice about the order you do things and the combat, for me, seems easier. but thetimes there is action it can be exhausting and genuinely tense. More puzzles would have been nice and certainly more complex puzzles.
it's a solid 8.5 / 10 for me. Visuals and sound are 10/10. story 9/10, combat 6.5/10, puzzles 6.5 / 10.
None of these people get the fact that this is not an action game, an rpg or even a puzzle game. This is primarily an interactive story about experiencing what it is to live with the internal struggle of psychosis with historical and mythological elements.
This game is a work of art, but sadly it seems about 90% of gamers are too low-brow to understand it. They bought it thinking it was something they wanted it to be then proceed to complain about it when it wasn't.
Except this is not true at all if you look at howlongtobeat. The vast majority of players aren't spending 3 hours in the camera mode and they aren't walking when there's generally no reason to go slower (unless you want to look at rock #4576 in great detail).
I found all but two of the collectables (so spent a decent amount of time searching) and finished in 7.5 hours. I enjoyed the game. But lying about the reality of it isn't going to help anyone.
Completionist = 9 hours 15 minutes

An 'average run' is not main + extras or completionist. Especially not for a game like this that is entirely linear. It's main, which is 7 hours on average. If you want to be really generous to his statement, look at the average of all playstyles, which is still under 8 hours.
Claiming a completionist run (which is still an hour shorter than the upper limit of his 'average run') as normal once again just shows how much copium you guys are high on.
I enjoyed the game, but stop trying to sell it as 25%+ longer than it really is. It will only lead to disappointment from those who believe what you're saying, and then purchase the game based on that belief.
fyi we currently speedrun Hellblade II on a average run of 2 hours and 20 minutes. 8-10 hours is fair for an average player to finish the game.
