whatever double fine used to be is gone.
their creativity and original concepts having been taken hostage by corporate greed and this can be seen in the games they make.
when this mess unfolded i made a promise to myself never to buy another double fine game, not even if it's Psychonauts 2.
Double Fine is making it easy to keep that promise.
they have some success with their mindless party games but nothing they do stands out any more.
i would even go as far as saying they can't make games like DOTT or Psychonauts any more.
So,yea, Microsoft bought them but it's not like that changes anything.
it's still a stale remnant of what used to be.
Double Fine has been dead for a long time.
Microsoft is probably trying to strengthen it's position in other fields (Windows 10, Microsoft Store and consoles) now that they have cut their loses from their disastrous venture into mobile market.
Also, did you know Microsoft has made whopping 226 acquisitions[en.wikipedia.org] since 1987.
Are you a bot?
Flesh and blood last time I checked.
Because when I read it quite quickly, the phrase "Also, did you know..." got stuck in my head.
Just sounds like a clickbait sentence that I have read on some websites before.
By the way, I now notice that you forgot the word "Microsoft" in that sentence :)
But yeah, it's really nice of you to just throw around good information like that... so.... thanks? ^^
Your Steam library is impressive by the way. How the ♥♥♥♥ did you manage to put so much money into video games? :'D
I wouldn't even have the time to play so many games.
That's what you get trying to write up quick reply, redo parts of it several times and posting it without proper proofreading.
I knew Microsoft had acquired inXile and Obsidian previously as I owned games from them but your post made me curious to see if they'd acquired even more. And as can be seen in the Wikipedia article I dug up they had 4 more that I didn't know of. I was also surprised at the ridiculous number other acquisitions they'd made over the years so I decided to link the article for reference.
Buying various bundles mostly over the years. Cost per game is actually pretty low; probably under 1€ per game. My former physical game collection cost way more due to many games costing 300FIM / 60€. Still managed to accumulate over 200 boxed games over the years.
Nor do I.
I feel it man
This is why I buy my young nephew SOME games and let him play.
I grew up with Sonic on the Megadrive and LEGO games in the early days so I bought Sonic Mania and the LEGO games for PC and just let him play them and he had a good time.
I think it is the best way of spending your money if you have expendable income.
It's also a very nice thing to donate your money to a "games for kids" foundation.
I found that much more fulfilling than just expanding my library while I don't have the time necessary to use it, but that is pretty subjective and I don't mean to make anyone feel bad.
There are good reasons for bigger private libraries and collections.
