I love to be able to build my own starting kit/character
Do you mean pick your 3 towers and all walls?
Best power-up I've found (or at least it feels the best) is the one that gives you +10% all towers for mixing Elements. Seems like an insane boost for easy work.
As for the original suggestion I would like it too eventually, but as it stands I think the game doesn't have enough progression. You'd pretty much be able to win with your starting towers.
10% increase across ALL towers isn't to be scoffed at when you've got circa 100 towers in place on boss levels etc but I understand ref getting synergy of one type. Depends if you find the relics you need though. I've had elec/flame setups whatever and just found poison/frost relics etc. Sometimes just gotta take what ya can get and make it work.
And "too long". Only gotta build 5 dif ones and in the later stages that's cake and you can have it done by Wave 3/4 assuming you got the right towers
If your argument is that it's better than nothing then I agree! But I think it could be better, on par with the other good ones. I think many relics could use a bit of a bump in usefulness.
In any case, I think the bigger obstacle to starting with a custom loadout is that relic or not, there is not enough progression to make it interesting. But even that sin't really much of a problem, there is little downside in having the option I think.
