Looking good, really wish there was more than 4 different classes/weapon types. I'm afraid that's going to get stale very quickly. I've seen the devs say that your equipment can help you buildcraft but I'm very skeptical of how true that is.

I know this is an early game snippet so it's hard to tell where they will go further into the game but the overall aesthetic and general vibe the devs portray for this game is "super accessible", which for me translates to "low stakes, irrelevant gearing, little difference between playing 30 minutes or 30 hours". I hope I'm wrong. I really hope the gear isn't just small % increases to stats. Finding a gear "upgrade" with the only difference being %2 poison resist or other such nonsense is a surefire way to cause disinterest.

That's what I'm afraid of too. I really dislike vertical rpg progression. Horizontal progression more than often brings more variety and keeps builds varied and fun. And I'm hoping difficulty brings better loots depending on what you choose. These are problems that have already been tackled in other games so I really hope they did their research prior to this early access. You don't need someone to tell you these basic things, devs should know this lol

4 classes/weapon types probably because they want to sell other classes

An example of loot affixes. 2% crit chance and 4% ability duration. Any idea what the average duration for an umbra ability is? 10 seconds? 15? 30? over a minute? 4% of 30 seconds is an extra 1.2 seconds. Not exactly thrilling imo, but I understand that there are people that absolutely live for sifting through mountains of garbage loot in the hopes of getting that fabled godroll.

Intentionally inflated loot pool with marginal stat adjustments to pad out playtime and waste inventory space, upcoming "free-to-play" business model with confirmed "pay for convenience"...I'm not sure, but I'm losing my excitement.

I was originally interested in this because it looked like a neat beat em up in a unique setting (or at least not a suburban setting which seems to be the go-to setting for this genre) but now this is starting to look like any other live service game.

Stat based RNG loot is not always a sign of live service as many classi diablo-like games were never live service back in the day (neither are AA/indie diablo-likes). My question is did they confirm this was going to be live service with F2P play at a later date?

If so I will pass, because I dispise liver service focuses games, and it saddens me how my favorite genre dialbo-likes/looters have only become soulless cash grabs.

However if this is a diablo-like mixed with a beat-em up combat system (unique as not many games have done this out side of DFO), with proper scaling for solo play I will be very excited to try this. Any word if this it mostly geared towards co-op play or is solo player going to be viable at high levels?
------------
EDIT: Ok never mind.... my interest pretty much ended after seeing it will in fact be F2P with a paid EA period. I was really interested in the concept of a side scroller beat em up mixed with diablo elements (RNG loot drops, builds,...etc) but F2P systems ruin everything and only means the game will lock all of the good stuff behind paywalls to hopefully snatch a few whales that will buy up everything.

I get the industry is trash atm, and its hard for indie games to take off and make profit, but man I hate F2P anything with a burning passion, and even if the game is right up my ally I will not waste a moment of my time or a cent of my money on these monetary models.

Yeah, nah... It's just casual kiddieware for casual kiddies. Also, without a caster class, the game looks like hot garbage that's freshly squelch from M$ Woke Studios 🚮

I'm against wokeness and i see none of it on this game. You're just another extreme brain rot child that thinks hating on everything is how we do things, its not, you're alone in that. This game is perfect for my friends to play together, mix of oldschool arcade games like TMNT and X-men meets looter RPG. Great fun. You probably don't like it because your a loner with no friends, or the friends you have are just idiots like you.
