Introducing the Class Skills Progression System! As you level up your Class, unlock a huge variety of Skills across 5 categories: Focus Skills, Weapon Mechanic, Moveset, Advanced Combat, and Support. Spend Skill Points to Equip or Unequip Skills on the fly (provided you have the points), allowing for deep customization. Mix and match skills and weapons, blend builds with certain combat tactics for different results. Craft a build that truly suits your playstyle!
Prepare for the hunt! We've added new Legendary Weapons for every class and new Legendary Gear items, dropping in Danger Level 5 content, including specific items from Boss Lairs. The powerful Boomguard's set also joins the DL5 loot pool. We've updated substats on many existing Legendaries, adjusted how rarity impacts Class Level requirements, and revamped Aspects – there are now 3 types (Helm, Chest, Weapon) you can equip 1 of each, changing build possibilities (note: Leg items no longer have Aspect slots). Some overly common Legendaries are now rarer.
The entire World Map has been reimagined for better flow and variety. Discover new Chance Encounters, now with custom map art hinting at their contents and deeper ties to nearby Ventures. Explore updated Venture Danger Levels, tackle the new Mossbosk Venture at DL 5, experience adjusted narratives in areas like the Backhills, and meet two new Umbra: Boshi and Querida! Ace XP rewards for exploration have also been rebalanced and generally increased.
We've smoothed out gameplay with fixes like improved input buffering (making air attacks after jump cancels more reliable), adjusted Universal Block Break to be faster and allow Jump Cancels, made Powderkeg Punch cancels more reliable, and tweaked Shadow Feint activation. Plus, enjoy numerous UI/UX improvements detailed below!
Connecting is easier than ever! The Group Finder now automatically matches you based on Goal and Danger Level. The Social Menu clearly shows friends in-game at the top and indicates players looking for a group. Interact directly with players in the Tower or on the World Map to group up, view profiles, or add friends – including cross-platform Stoic Friends! You can also now participate in Towerborne Twitch drop campaigns and link your Steam and Xbox accounts.

When it comes to new skill trees (for each class) and a whole lot of map and missions to explore and conquer ... the devil is in more than just the details, it's in playing the game. You'll find a detailed breakdown below of what this update has to offer. But the real magic happens when you feel it come together amongst your friends and foes out in the field of battle.

  • Updated Gear Score calculation that includes factors like Class Level and spent Skill Points to give a more accurate result.

      • Certain repetitive moments in ventures have been removed and instead added to Chance Encounters missions.
        
      • Backhills Venture and the area surrounding it has been adjusted narratively. Because of this the anomaly for the Venture has changed.
    • Certain Umbra missions have changed Danger Levels and biomes.
      
    • Two new Umbra have been added: Boshi and Querida.
      
    • The Brawler, a new merk enemy, has been added to the game and can be found in missions with their merc buddies in Danger Level 4.
  • Quest Reorganization
    
    • A Return to Form now introduces new mechanics like equipable Skills.
      
    • More Primary quests have been added.
      
    • More Side quests have been added.
      
    • Venture quests have been removed and subsumed into either Primary or Side quests.
  • Request Board
    
    • The Job Board has been renamed to the Request Board.
      
    • Request Board appearance has been updated.
      
    • More requests are available. Players will see a guaranteed variety of requests daily.
      
    • Four requests will be available daily instead of three.
      
      • During certain events/activities, more requests will be made available, e.g. Golden Week.
    • Request rewards have been adjusted.
  Combat & Classes
  The Class Skills system adds a whole new world of possibilities to each Class. It’s up to you to pick and choose your Skills in a way that best suits your playstyle.
  
  • Class Skills Progression System
    
    • One of the biggest changes to combat comes in the form of Class Skills. This new progression mechanic aims to provide players with a large variety of choice and customization options that unlock as you level up your Classes.
      
    • Each Skill has a Skill Point Cost associated with it. However, spending points is not a permanent action. You are able to Equip or Unequip Skills however you like, provided you have enough points to do so. There are five main categories to customize: Focus Skills, Weapon Mechanic, Moveset, Advanced Combat, and Support.
  • New! The Mender’s Flask
    
    • The concept of Lives has been removed from the game. It is now replaced by the Mender’s Flask. Pressing Up on the d-pad will allow the Ace to heal 40% of your health. In solo play, reaching zero health will now result in Defeat.
      
      • It will be possible to improve various aspects of Healing as you progress through the game.
    • By default, the max number of Mender’s Flasks is 1.
      
    • Interacting with a Shrine refills the Mender’s Flask by 1.
      
    • Defeating LTs provides a guaranteed Mender’s Flask drop.
      
      • Run towards the Flask to pick it up.
  • Focus Skills are no longer locked to specific weapons. Instead, Focus Skills are unlocked via leveling up the Class of your choice. This means it’s now possible to mix and match your favorite Light and Heavy Focus Skills!
    
  • Weapon Mechanics have been greatly expanded thanks to the new Skill system. Some of the new Skills provide small tweaks or improvements to existing mechanics, while others provide all new opportunities that drastically change the way you play.
    
  • The Ace’s Standard Moveset can also be expanded with new Skills. You’ll be able to perform air evades, recover quickly when launched, or even perform wake up attacks after being knocked down.
    
  • Advanced Combat is where you add new moves, modify existing moves, or apply unique perks to your Class. Some of these are pretty wild, so please look forward to checking them all out!
    
  • The Support category is where you can modify your Class to do things that help you when times are tough. Need more Mender’s Flasks? Want to help heal your party? Want to survive a devastating attack that normally would lead to defeat?
  General
  Due to the new Class Skill system, there are a lot of changes under the hood that may not be listed here. Instead, some of the bigger highlights will be shared. However, it’s worth noting that general gameplay should feel much improved even if it’s not specifically called out.
  
  • Fixed an issue across all gameplay that prevented inputs from being buffered correctly when pressed very quickly. This should result in air attacks to be performed more reliably after jump canceling an Evade.
    
  • Rising Recovery is now a Skill that unlocks at Level 5. This action allows you to quickly rise from the ground by pressing Jump or Evade.
    
  • Universal Launchers are now gated by Skill progression and unlocks at Level 7.
    
  • Focus Meter gain, Weapon Meter gain, and Break Bar damage has been rebalanced across the board for all 4 Classes.

    • Honeypot
      • Querida sets a trap that detonates on enemy contact. Once detonated, a swarm of bees attacks the enemies for 10 seconds. You can place multiple Honeypots down provided you have enough charges to do so.
  • Boshi
    • Vermicelli Vortex
      • Boshi summons a swirling soup around the Ace that deals damage repeatedly for 12 seconds.
  Enemies & NPCs
  • General
    
    • Enemies have been adjusted so that the differences in tactics between DLs 1-2 and 3-5 are more significant. Additional attacks will unlock at later DLs, making these enemies pose a larger threat as you progress later into the game.
      
    • Updated the Tower Guard player companion so they have their own move set with three attacks and a unique weapon.
      
    • Enemies will not perform any evades or wake-up attacks until DL 3 and above.
      
    • Fixed various bugs that resulted in enemies being put into an unresponsive state when blocking or having their Break Bar broken at specific moments in gameplay.
  • Enrage Adjustments
    
    • Red visual tells have been added to enemies about to Enrage to signify that an Unblockable Attack is about to occur.
      
    • Animations for Enrage have largely been universalized so that the timing can be learned easier by observing enemy behaviors.
      
    • Scrub and Average tier enemies that get Enraged by LTs no longer have reduced reactions while Enraged.
      
    • Enemies will begin Enraging starting at DL 4, the following enemies have been adjusted accordingly based on this new rule:
      
      • Gobo Tormentor will Enrage starting at DL 5.
        
      • Elite Paragon will Enrage starting at DL 4, prev DL 5.
        
      • Pangojira will Enrage starting at DL 4.
        
      • Trufflebulb will Enrage starting at DL 5, prev DL 4.

  UI & UX
  • General
    • Quests have moved to their own tab in the Character Panel.
    • Tutorial pop-ups now have supporting images.
    • New icons for empty gear slots in Loadout.
    • Improved font display on certain labels for Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, and Japanese character sets.
  • Remappable Keybindings
    • Go to Settings -> Controls to reassign any action to the keys or buttons that feel best for you. All combat controls other than movement can be remapped at this time.
  • Squad Goals
    • Group Finder improvements
      • It’s now easier to find Groups and play together! Instead of choosing from a list of available Groups to join, players can now select a Goal and Danger Level to start their search. The Group Finder will automatically put them in a Group that fits their parameters.
    • Improved Social Menu in a variety of ways
      • You can now see which of your friends are actively playing Towerborne
      • Friends who are in-game are sorted to the top of the Friends List.
    • Players who are looking for a group now have an icon indicating this over their Ace’s head on both the Tower and World Map
    • Players can now leave their Group directly from the End of Mission recap screen. Group Leaders can also kick a member from their Group on this screen.
    • Players can now interact with each other on the Tower and World Map through the Player to Player interaction menu. Simply run up to an Ace and press the interact button while near them! This allows players to more easily group up, add friends, view profiles, and more.
    • You can now add cross-platform friends as Stoic Friends.

Charge the Heat Gauge to ignite every strike, bathing foes in lingering fire while a built-in Grit frame lets you shrug off interruptions and finish each colossal arc. With sweeping crowd control and escalating Burn damage the Pyroclast embodies methodical devastation—perfect for Aces who relish turning raw force into a blazing battlefield.
The Warclub isn't subtle—it’s the weapon for anyone who enjoys hearing their enemies go "crunch." Slow, satisfying strikes deal huge damage and literally set your foes on fire. It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. If the phrase "brute force" appeals, you've found your match.

• Big hits that demand commitment but pay off explosively.
  
• Crowd control, fiery style.
  
• Ignite enemies—because roasting foes never gets old.

These are Skills that modify the weapon mechanic (the RB button). Could be expansions to the mechanic, additional options, or even a full on change that makes it feel like something else entirely.

• Sear: When the Weapon Meter is full, press RB to activate Sear (12s). All attacks inflict Burn (3s) while Sear is active. Burn: deals low damage 4 times per second
  
• Searing Burst: When activating Sear, trigger a huge explosion that deals damage and inflicts Burn (3s) on each enemy hit. Burn: deals low damage 4 times per second
  
• Infernal Touch: When activating Sear, grant nearby allies Fired Up (6s). Fired Up: Inflict Burn (2s) per hit Burn: deals low damage 4 times per second
  
• Preheat: Press RB to automatically charge Sear by 1% for 10 seconds.
  
• Pyro Surge: Press RB while attacking to quickly recover and charge Sear. While Sear is active, press RB while attacking to perform an area attack around the Ace.
  
• Persistent Pyre: Increases the duration of Sear by 4s.
  
• Persistent Pyre II: Increases the duration of Sear by 4s.
  
• Hot Air: While Sear is active, deal 15% more damage to Airborne enemies.
  
• Ember Lunge: While Sear is active, press RB while Evading to perform an explosive flying kick.
  
• Ember Cyclone: While Sear is active, press RB while Airborne to perform a spinning attack.
  
• Ember Spike: While Sear is active, any attacks that impact the ground cause a long-range tremor that travels across the ground and explodes on the first enemy hit. This attack Block Breaks.
  
• Volcanic Wrath: While Sear is active, press RB to use Volcanic Wrath. This attack Block Breaks and consumes Weapon Meter with each use.
  
• Thermal Amplification: Gain +5% additional Weapon Meter when attacking enemies or charging Sear, and +50% Weapon Meter from incoming attacks.
  
• Stable Footing: When activating Sear, gain Stability (5s). Stability: Negates reactions from incoming hits
  
• Intense Heat: +25% Burn DMG while Sear is active.
  
• Ember Cannon: While Sear is active, fire a long-range projectile when performing the Light Evade Attack Finisher.

These are Skills that modify your most basic combat skills. Need to do a launcher? Cool! Want to dodge in the air? Recovery quickly when knocked down? This is where you do it. All classes have the same Standard Moveset Skills.

• Airborne Shift: Press B while Airborne to Evade.
  
• Heavy Evade Attack: Press Y after Evading to perform a Heavy Evade Attack (B,Y). Evade canceling an attack followed by a Heavy Attack will perform a unique Combo Finisher.
  
• Light Evade Attack: Press X after Evading to perform a Light Evade Attack (B,X). Evade canceling an attack followed by a Light Attack will perform a unique Combo Finisher.
  
• Airborne Rebound: Press A to recover after getting hit while Airborne.
  
• Rising Recovery: Press A to quickly recover after getting knocked down. Pressing B will execute a Dodge Roll recovery instead.
  
• Block Breaker: Hold Y to perform a Block Breaker attack.
  
• Launcher: Hold X to perform a Launcher attack.
  
• Rising Strike: While laying on the ground, press any attack button (X or Y) to perform a recovery attack.

These are Skills that amplify various parts of your Class. It could be related to specific combos, could add additional moves to the kit that are specific to the class (new move, variation of a move, etc). This is where a lot of build crafting comes from.

• Shattering Strikes: All Heavy Attack Combo Finishers now Block Break.
  
• Crushing Momentum: Each hit of the Advanced Heavy Combo (XYYY) deals increasing Break Bar DMG, gaining +5% with each successive hit in the combo.
  
• Fiery Cascade: Attacking Burning enemies spreads Burn (3s) to nearby enemies. Cooldown: 5s Burn: deals low damage 4 times per second
  
• Combustive Finale: Heavy Combo Finisher (YYY) consumes all Burn stacks on the enemy, triggering an explosion. Each stack of Burn increases the explosion damage by 5%.
  
• Cindercharge: All flamethrower attacks and Focus Skills inflict an additional stack of Burn (1s). +2s to the duration if the flamethrower attack scores a critical hit.
  
• Scorched Blast: Trigger an explosion when attacking Burning enemies. Cooldown: 1s
  
• Flame’s Embrace: +50% Burn Resistance. Defeating a Burning enemy causes Burn (3s) to be inflicted on the attacker. While burning, spread Burn (3s) to other enemies on contact. Burn: deals low damage 4 times per second
  
• Unshakable Strength: +10% Strike DMG while Stability is active.
  
• Whirlwind Bash: Upgrades the Air Light Attack to a horizontal spin attack that hits twice.
  
• Cyclone Slam: Upgrades the Heavy Evade Attack to an area spin attack that Launches enemies and then smashes them to the ground. This attack Block Breaks.

Every weapon boasts a roster of high-impact techniques that consume Focus, a meter earned through skillful play. Equip any two outside combat, then unleash them mid-fight to redefine the encounter. Mixing and matching these abilities lets you tailor burst damage, crowd control, or mobility to the mission at hand.
Your Light Focus Skills are your 1 bar focus skills. Uses LT + Light Attack to activate. You can only have one of these. Your Heavy Focus Skills are your 2 bar focus skills. Uses LT + Heavy Attack to activate. You can only have one of these.

• Crimson Uppercut: Press LT+X to unleash a column of flame in a rising spin attack. Enemies are struck 4 times and Launched. Inflicts Burn (2s) on the final hit. Break Bar DMG: Medium
  
• Blast Off: Press LT+X to fire a blast at the ground that Launches the Ace and nearby enemies. While in the air, the Ace will fire a second blast, damaging nearby enemies. Inflicts Burn (2s) on all enemies hit. Break Bar DMG: High
  
• Wildfire: Press LT+X to spin the warclub vertically, pulling in enemies in front and dealing damage. The final blast inflicts Burn (2s) and Stun (2s). Break Bar DMG: Medium

• Blazing Roar: Press LT+Y to unleash a stream of fire from the warclub that hits enemies multiple times and staggers them. Inflicts Burn (1s) on each hit and Burn (3s) on the final hit. This attack can be used while Airborne. Break Bar DMG: High

Every tile might harbor secret loot, formidable foes, or unexpected rewards that enhance your journey. 
As you push deeper into the Wilds, your personal map fills in one tile at a time. When you team‑up, the party inherits the group leader’s map—every tile they’ve revealed is instantly visible to everyone else. Clear a tile while grouped and it also unlocks on your map, so no one loses progress. Every mission you complete draws new adjacent tiles into view, constantly expanding the known realm. The map is not static—it refreshes as Ventures are regularly updated, modified, and sometimes replaced entirely to keep your exploration lively. 

In Towerborne, the path you pick and the way you play is totally up to you. Among your core choices are missions, encounters, and quests. Here's a non-comprehensive breakdown to help you understand these unique play experiences:

• Missions: Combat-centric activities that comprise most of the world map. Each mission sends you directly into battle scenarios where your main objective is defeating enemies. While important to gameplay progression, missions typically feature minimal narrative context, focusing primarily on action and exploration.
  
• Ventures: A specialized type of mission offering deeper gameplay, distinct challenges, and often richer rewards. Ventures include unique gameplay modifiers like Anomalies or guaranteed mini-boss encounters called Lieutenants. Unlike standard missions, ventures frequently integrate directly with ongoing storylines and may become available only upon accepting certain quests.
  
• Encounters: Single-time, narrative-rich scenarios found across the map. Each encounter emphasizes story and character development, immersing you in special events and unique moments outside the standard flow of gameplay. Umbra Shrines can be considered a special type of encounter, distinct in that they often blend combat, puzzles, and exploration. Upon completing a Shrine, players will learn more about - and befriend - a powerful new companion.
  
• Quests: Tasks given by NPCs at the Belfry or via the Request Board. Completing quests keep the Belfry safe and shed light on humanity’s plight - and also end in rewards. They may require completing specific missions or ventures, but can also involve objectives entirely separate from standard gameplay activities.

Each of these experiences uniquely contributes to your overall journey, blending action, exploration, and narrative depth to create a tailored adventure through Towerborne's world.
Your Gear Score is crucial for survival, guiding your choices on Towerborne's expansive world map. If an area or mission shows a red Gear Score, it's a clear sign that your current class, skills, and equipment might not be up to the challenge yet. Level up, upgrade your gear, and hone your abilities to turn previously intimidating battles into achievable victories.

To further tailor your experience, you can dynamically adjust Danger Levels from 1 to 5 as you explore. Higher Danger Levels introduce tougher, more numerous foes and greater threats—but also offer significantly better loot and rewards. Increasing Danger Levels requires clearing specific Danger License Trials, pushing your limits and confidence as you climb.

What's better than landing a perfectly timed dropkick or slicing through foes with style? Doing it alongside friends, of course! Sure, you've probably got a go-to crew dialed in already, but every new Ace you encounter is another chance for a new legendary story. 

Group Finder is the in‑game matchmaking tool that keeps those stories rolling by pairing you with players who share your goals. To access, from the in game menu navigate to Social → Group Finder, where you can filter by goal and Danger Level. When the group is full, the leader must be on the World Map to launch the mission.
