Why UV light? (SPOILERS!!!!)
Why use the UV light if it's basically required for the mutants to transform? Why should I know which specific animal is mutated?

you need to figure out which one is faking its sickness so you can dart it to kill it/dart it to cure it of the monster parasite thing, you can also just watch for which one doesn't have symptoms

Why? If when I come back with its respective darts, it'll be already transformed?
Toland Oct 3, 2024 @ 8:07pm
you can shoot them with the three cure darts to cure them, sometimes they don't auto transform and you can feed them the meat meal (in the infected tab on the food computer) to make them calm and normal animal again

Sometimes they don't auto transform? I didn't have a single run where an enclosure with a mutated animal hasnt transformed the second time I tried to enter it. Are you sure?

yeah on my first run the penguins didn't transform till I cured the actually sick ones (third time entering, had to tranq them to get blood samples to check if that was bad

the first run is the only case where this happens (because its essentially a tutorial), afterwards its garunteed to transform upon entering the 2nd time.

Continue+ here. First enclosure was a mutated animal and had zero options for curing. Seems like the only option is to get the phone call in first storage and then run back to hub to locker for disk with info (cure unlock) and then back to first enclosure. All that before even begin entering the actual enclosure and collecting samples.

you're right. UV light is not necessary for this game.
you can find the mutants without it so you may use it in a corridor or somewhere. you know, UV light reveals something's hiding.

IRL, parasites are sensitive to UV light. The UV light, I think, is a trap. It'll cause a premature transformation trigger if you shine it on the infected animals. I just had a wallaby transform while I was still gathering samples. I hadn't been in the enclosure for more than five minutes (not even three). I grabbed the UV on a whim to look for "mucus" and less than a minute later the infected transformed. I think the UV light is a red herring meant to trigger encounters.

If you don't measure Temp and Frequency. and don't check Blood and Feces on the train.
They will not transform.

You can figure out the disease based on the secondary symptoms, for example if the animals puke and show mucus under the UV light - they have Gastroenteritis.

No fighting is needed when using the secondary symptoms.

Except that they can and will transform without checking the samples. I had only collected the feces samples and was literally about to grab the blood syringe when it transformed, while I was still in the enclosure.
