When you go to the vet computer to make the medicine, there's a tab next to "create" that says "diagnosis." In this tab, there are symbols that match your animals' symptoms. Those are filters! Turn on every filter that matches what symptoms your animal has. This will narrow down the possible illnesses that the animal could be carrying.
One important thing is, the diagnosis doesn't hold your hand! You have to use the clues and figure it out. For example, if your animal has salmonella infection, there is only a HINT in the description of the disease that salmonella is a *type of bacteria.* You then need to choose from the list of medicines in the "create" tab that fights *bacterial infections.*
I had this same exact question going to these comments but found that if a "healthy animal" mutates (all green across the board) you can use the same symptoms another creature in the same enclosure had to make the cure for the mutation. For example if one of the other creatures in the enclosure has a migraine and a "healthy" one mutates, use the cephalotriggus toxica on it 3 times (creating the cure makes 3 darts) and it will be saved.
