Corruption, What does it do?
So I got my first Corruption 'Mutation' and I chose the one that makes you more emotionless. I assumed that it would effect my social skills but I could not see anywhere that showed what it does.

I'm assuming that Corruption is going to have an Upside and a Downside because there is a Background that allows you to increase Corruption and, why would you do that unless there is some kind of benefit to the mutations?

I think corruption is broken or unimplemented. Got all 3 and nothing happened.

What about Spellcrafting and enchanting? I just found the UI for it but I can't craft anything

Nevermind I made a smite spell on Maghda so it works

Crafting works for "fancy" Voodoo closes, nothing else as far as i know. Spellcrafting works, bit messy when you have many cards.

Whoa... wait. You got all 3 "doomsies"? As in 90 corruption, or whatever it takes? I got one at 30 corruption. Didn't know there were enough fights that gave opportunity to cast that many corruptible spells. I was playing Adventure (story) Mode, though, and did take advantage of the insta-death spell a few times.

Speaking of... when you click on the Corruption bar in the character sheet a description pops up that says, "Corruption points can be healed by items, corruption tiers are healed through unique interactions." Has anyone seen either of these in the content we have, so far?

Last time i played, didn't see any corruption cleaning items.

AS for getting it, i just spammed hands spell from voodoo magic + few others that i don't remember.

Near the end (they didn't get used much) I crafted Curse of Weakness (ranged AoE enemy damage decrease), and Venomous Spit (rectangular directional AoE damage + poison). Both give corruption. Also crafted Smite for Maghda, a reaction damage spell. I let her enter a couple Rifts.

About corruption. I know the game implies that to be more powerful, mages risk becoming Abhorred. But knowing there will (likely?) be a way to heal it and reverse the "doomsies" makes me think there may eventually be a way to gain power and not become Abhorred.

I would rather not see my alluring female Shaman become some freakazoid mutant.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also thought if you gain corruption is based on if the spell you cast requires more magic than is in the area that you're currently in or if it has a higher corruption value than you currently have? Is there anyway to see the numerical value of the magic level you are currently in or the corruption level of the spell?

Maybe it's me, but at the level it currently stands, most of the spells I cast don't feel, so overpowered that they need an additional downside. Corruption seems like a cool mechanic, if the spell power is worth it, but as it stands maybe 2 of the spells I've used (Taunting Totem and Paralyzing Spirit), so far felt powerful. These spells also have associated cooldowns, so it's not like you could spam them without corruption. Steam Tech Engineers also have access to some of the effects with gear. It kind of just feels like corruption is a tax for picking the class without a ton of benefit at the moment.

when corrupted you chose trait that has upside and downside from only time i had enough for that to happen.

Okay, so the way i saw it, the game explained that if the AREA you are in has a high Magic vs Tech Lvl (meaning you've done alot to raise magic and lower technology) you would not get corrupted while casting more powerful spells. but sadly, so far this doesnt seem to work right now in the game, since i got Almost all of the bar toward magic and still every single spell of mine give me corruption (minus the minor beginning ones like taunting Totem.)

For anyone wondering: The Magic vs Tech bar can be found on the right edge of the minimap, just mouse over it.

Mine is also. I guess if it's not implemented it doesn't matter. But I was looking at it to see if it showed a numerical amount, which unfortunately it doesn't. Sadly, I don't think spells do either. So even if they had implemented magic didn't cause corruption if the ambient magic level was high, we would be playing a guessing game.
