it seems female characters are all lesbians. for male characters the judge reads about your beloved Helen who died. players should be able to decide who they want their loved one to be? it also adds to the replay value

the Journal is the same regardless of gender, race wich is a bit of an inmersion breaking, i hope devs can improve it since it would also add more replay value. i tried with elf, human, male and female characters and remained exactly the same to all

I'm thinking that's probably the case. They could have used something like "beloved partner" to make it more neutral, I suppose.

I recall that in some of the dialogues with Red Simon they use gender specific lines in the written text, but the voice lines are neutral.

With my female Shaman:
Written- "But now, Lass..." Voiced- "But now, Mate..."
Written- "It's your game, Lass." Voiced- "It's your game."

Can't say if it's "Lad" for male characters since I haven't played a male character yet. Maybe someone else can remember if it is.

The character creation screen does specifically have "Gender" as Male or Female. I hope they stick to that and not give in to a bunch of "Identity" nonsense. They should be able to write and program dialogues with traditional gender recognition based on the character's created gender selection.

Game character romances can be very immersive and emotionally rewarding, but need to be really well done in order to be meaningful. That means good writing above all, plain and simple. Character design, voice acting and story setting are all important as well.

I've done one in Baldur's Gate 3 for Shadowheart and the one in Dragon's Dogma 2 for Ulrika. They actually take careful consideration of choices and can be frustrating. But I must admit, it absolutely put a smile on my face every time I approached Ulrika and saw her cheeks begin to blush when she saw me. 🥰

Don't remember a romance at all. Most I recall was Mick throwing my character a nod or something about being pretty or such. Forget now. My character was a lady elf btw. Cause lady characters got way better looking outfits than their derpy dude counterparts, that's for sure. The Victorian Louisiana look of the voodoo outfits on female characters just looks way good. The engineer outfit on female characters don't look bad either.

And on a totally unrelated note, I would like to throw the one teen mage character into the ocean. Hopefully will be other mage characters as companion in the completed game. I personally won't be able to keep my sanity with the only current one. XD

There are no romance dialogues in this game's EA. That romance comment above was an over generalization. Heck, you can't even talk to the hookers in the Brothel. They just tell you to go see the Bartender.

Yeah, she got on my nerves a bit, at first. But she kind of grew on me and I could see the potential for an interesting story arc with her.
