Map Fog and the Cartographer's Guild
I can't help but think that the maps you find and return should be used as a reward to defog that area's map. There is clearly some hint for that to be the case, but it isn't and that confuses me. Maybe those maps wouldn't be the actual reward, but rather Sanza uses them to create copies that he then sells to adventurers and explorers.

All that work around creating a Cartographer's Guild with maps in each region that you have to find and return, only for those maps to not be used in any form as a reward? That feels misleading to the point that it'd be a programming error instead of intentional design.

I try not to bring people down when I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.

Except Matt Hansen told us they were too busy trying to make Elon Musk mad to make a good game with gameplay elements that made sense.

I was hoping this would be the case. It kind of annoys me that after 100%ing a region (in terms of quests) I usually still have a lot of little specks on the map. Wish there was an easy way to clear it.

There's mod on Nexusmods that removes fog of war/makes it semi-transparent. Not the same, but still better than nothing.

Yeah using it on my second playthrough
I would not like this. If the map cleared up when I turned in a cartographer quest then I would not know what areas on the map I have not explored yet looking for chests and loot.

They could still have partial fog for the unexplored areas.
