They make good expansions, the four they made for new Vegas are all quality (blood money is my favorite, old world blues my least)
Why not?
Outer Worlds was too goofy all the time and when the most somber moments hit, I wouldn't care, I also think it tried too hard to be funny.
I think it's something they did better in Old World Blues because even though it was very humorous almost everyone had a truly tragic backstory and the silliness was just there to hide the true sadness underneath.
I also think it front loaded it's most interesting story beats, like the first planet and deciding who gets the energy.
I don't know where you're getting your information from, but as someone who's played Obsidian's entire CRPG catalogue bar Icewind Dale, Avowed is Just Better than Outer Worlds.
i can understand liking OW's humor more tho, this one's not quite as funny
if it gives you any idea of what the game's Actually Like, the lead director of Avowed is the same woman who directed the DLC for Outer Worlds, aka The Parts That People Generally Agree Are The Best
