Avowed
Wow the combat is just trash what is everyone on about...
Like seriously people say the combat is good? Talk about delusional. Melee feels like crap locking your camera in place and the bows are even worse being practically unusable. Saw a post and some guy said the magic isn't any better so this is going to be a HARD pass for me until modders come in and show the devs how to do the bare minimum BASICS.

Thank god for Gamepass.

P.S. If you want a baseline for what the melee should play like go play Dead Island 2.

Update: Guys I continued the tutorial and got to the magic part. It's usable. I was already planning on being a mage anyways so that's good. Still stand by Bows and Melee being unusable.

Final update: Unsubbed from this thread and uninstalled the game because:
"Yea I'm not interested lady"
"Well here's my house key just in case you're in the area maybe you can kill some of those things but be careful when you do blah blah blah"
I can't even say no to a side quest I don't want to do LOL. Like seriously no thank you I'm out. The 18 year old witty guard captain and forced companion straight out of the tutorial already had me about to quit.

The combat looks fun, but what kills it for me is the "progression system". Very, very, very unfun and barebones. The game regressed 30+ years in that department.

ew, no
why would i want every melee weapon to feel the same and have like 5 enemy types to use them on
guns actually feel good here and I can make gravity wells and ice meteors and ♥♥♥♥
and there's actual uniques
and there's build variety
Apparently you don't know what the word literally means. So I am going to ignore everything you said.

I'm not sure what you mean by locked on camera. What do you mean? I've been watching a friend play said and shield and looks pretty chunky in combat and he hasn't had any complaints.

Magic is what i went with and its pretty good to me. I like how you cast spells in the game and there isn't another game that does it this way so it's pretty unique on its own. I just made it to the 2nd zone and I'm still having a blast.

I didn't say anything about locked on camera. I said the camera locks in place (for the duration of your entire swing). Really throws you off because you can't pay attention to multiple enemies or dodge exactly the direction you want to for the entire duration of the swing. Not to mention if you're dual wielding your character very often swings after a dodge which is clunky as hell.

But can you actually aim with the magic or is it like a bow where you're forced to almost perfectly before and make no adjustments?

That CoD part makes no sense though idk what I was thinking, Gonna edit that out.

Yea, we meant the same thing about the camera. Not sure i know what you mean about feeling like it locks in place. Ar3 you talking like in terms of want to strike with melee and turn with momentum on your swings like chivalry? Melee combat doesn't seem that much different than how Skyrim had it albeit you have cooldowns here.

Wands have semi aim assist so they will curve to hit their targets. Spells you have a brief amount of time to aim aoes before they are fired.

Personally, I'm enjoying my dodge build with guns. Nothing quite like clapping enemies by shooting them in the head while dodging their melee attacks.

Combat is more fun than anything I've played in a while

Saw a post once about a guy who liked horses. Called himself Mr. Hands...

Just have to make a quick amendment that it's not the entire swing. Just before you hit with your weapon or when you zoom in with the bow AND charge your shot your mouse sensitivity is cut by at least 4x. There is no reason for this whatsoever and all it does it make the combat feel like trash and throw off your aim and all of your movements.

Oh god guns? There's no possible way those are even remotely usable if the bows are anything to go off of....

If you're just looking for some very satisfying melee combat (without a tone of depth) I'd recommend it. The rest of the game isn't that great though and the story is like Saints Row. It's at least mechanically solid with okay performance.

Its slightly better the Skyrim's combat which is the weakest element in that game. So I agree the combat looks dull.

Combat is like more responsive Oblivion to me but I do have decent gear, but the roleplaying.. Man, Obsidian. What the hell happened after Alpha Protocol and Outer Worlds..

Try dual wielding wands, it's fun as hell.
