Avowed
Bigots lost: How Obsidian Entertainment has plans to make it to 100 years in the business.

I mean, if Nintendo made it, who says others can't? You just have to believe in yourself and stay focused on your true vision.

Sure, Avowed might not be everyone's cup of tea and be under attack by a minority of angry "gamers" crying "w0ke," but in the grand scheme of things, Avowed might be just a small title in the extensive catalog they'll build in years to come.

I personally find this exciting because of the prospect of more games and appreciating in real time the evolution of the studio through each release, instead of focusing in politics (which is something people seem to enjoy more today rather than the game itself).

Ahhahahaha
Obsidian will fall before a century , this game is just a poorly executed game that has far too much political agenda shoved into it. Eurogamer is a mainstream media shill site that honestly does not print relevant stories. I don't pay attention to these shill sites because they side with the big money not the gamers. So yeah I laugh at these plans and wish them luck, they'd better not screw up Outer Worlds 2 or their a defunct studio, Outer Worlds was great.

Getting bought up by Microsoft kind of makes it a bit more difficult. They could easily just become another brand on as much as a whim from their corporate overlords.

I don't think the country Obsidian is based in is going to last another 100 years, and last I checked the people who want to change it also want to ban video games, so good luck with that.

You need and investors for this.
Meaning, either products need to make a profit, or they've got to get some of that sweet USaid money... Oh... wait..... I can foresee two issues here already...

The lean, long term approach is exactly what Larian head Sven was calling for in his speech to the game development community.

Slow and steady gave us BG 3, and it's good to see other companies moving towards this strategy. High burn, instant closure tactics aren't sustainable.

Pillars 1 and 2 were both funded by Kickstarters.

So was the breakout Divinity series by a little known company called Larian.

This strategy can and does work.

If you aren't profitable, all plans are meaningless in the long term

Yeah, I for Obsidian the peaks they had considering Advanced access and game pass are good.

Hopefully they'll hire some good writers for future projects. Pentiment was good but Outer Worlds was uneven.

This game being bad does not mean you're a bigot. Labeling people with serious accusations such as this is exactly why you're receiving backlash in the first place. Smh.

They aren't learning though, I personally encourage them to double down on this as it just helps us in the long run.

Most companies don't last 100 years. I love Obsidian's games but I don't think they will last 100 years either. Nothing against them personally but they are owned by Microsoft now and could easily just merge or close the studio at anytime. The fact is most independent gaming studios that end up being purchased by a console manufacturer or large publisher don't tend to last long after that.

EA gets hit with the graveyard meme the worst but really every large company that buys out studios are all guilty of it. They will take tremendously talented and respected studios and just kill them.

I hope they are right and that I am wrong however.

That is also because Larian were a good studio even from the time they made games like eco dragonis.

Obsidian right now is busy pushing politics and not realizing that microsoft can decide to fire them if the finances look dire, just like other studios such as Bethesda did.

No matter whether you dream of a 1000 year something or a 100 year something - failed artists won't achieve that.
AndreGon Feb 23 @ 10:57pm
Do you know who also "won"?
Concord, Dragon Age Veilguard, Unknown 9, Dustborn, Suicide Squad. And if we go further back there's even more games that "win" like Forspoken.

Long story short:
