Lol what do you mean "indie developer"? This game is published by Microsoft and costs $70 for god sakes. Modders can put in a pin in the map (just hasn't happened yet), so can the devs
I was just jakeing with ya, hope your issue gets fixed.
Not only can you not place markers on it, you can't even default to opening the map and usually have to sift through the other sub menu's to get to it.
And no, it's not a great map, but it is a map. Everybody is talking about Oblivion and Skyrim, but Todd Howard's latest game didn't even have a working map at launch.
This option doesn't exist on controller.
If there is a new item in your inventory, or new piece of lore, or new tutorial it will default to whichever tab that new thing is in instead of the map.
It wouldn't be a big deal if not for the inability to place a pin and a compass that lacks any kind of landmarks, it becomes annoying when you're trying to orient yourself and need to open the map several times while going to an area that doesn't have a quest marker.
I've noticed this too, hoping it wasn't just me but it seems there is no way to open the map itself, just the menu which doesn't open to that page.
And for the record the reason I want to put a pin in the map is for exploration purposes
