Do I have to use spells "through" the grimoiare to get the extra level?
The game say that if I have points put into a spell and then use a grimoiare that also have that same spell, the spell gets upgraded by one extra point, so a lvl 2 spell becomes a lvl3, etc.

Does anyone know if I have to use the spell "through" my grimoiare, i.e rightclick+1/2/3/4 to get that extra level bonus, or if it is enough to have the grimoiare equipped and then use my regular 123456 quickslots for the spell, and still get the bonus?

I don't know, but it should be easy enough to test: the shield spell reflects projectiles at level 2, but not at level 1. So cast a naturally learned shield level 1 with a grimoire equipped, but without using a grimoire for the spellcast, and see if the projectile gets reflected.

Using a spell through the grimoire is an innate +1 to that skill, if you also have a point in that particular spell, using that spell through the grimoire = +2 spell skill, using it on your quickslot is still +1, so yes, use the spells through grimoire
You need to have the spell learned and use it THROUGH the grimoire to get the additional rank boost.
And, from what I read online, if you're casting specific spells from a grimoire, don't upgrade those spells past rank 2. Otherwise, you wasted a point and you gain nothing from casting the spell from your grimoire (other than the cooldown and essence reductions).
Ok, thanks peeps!

Thanks for this! I was actually searching to see if you could get to a level 4 through them.
