A lot of people were saying we shouldn't compare Skyrim/Oblivion to Avowed, but should compare it to Outer Worlds...

No, it had 5 years, they were simply so inefficient at it that they had to scrap their own work several times

There were people who claimed working on project since end of 2018. (14 people credited in Avowed Concept Team in Avowed credits).
It means game in development since 2018. How it Patel worked on it as Game Director while she was PoE2 and TOW with DLCs? No one knows.
Why is production director joined in 2022? Don't ask.
Why Sawyer credited with narrative roles when he was working on Pentiment since 2018? Don't ask.
Why is there literally zero information before first gameplay trailed? Don't ask.

So? Who cares. I had a blast with Outer Worlds and I've had a blast with Avowed. It doesn't matter which is better. Both are fun.

But we do care. I love Fallout 4/Skyrim types of games but a lot of them are getting dated so it pains me to see Starfield and Avowed turn out to be so mediocre. I'm only hanging around the forums in the hope they do a Cyberpunk/No Man's Sky redemption arc. SF I've given up on, but there is still hope for Avowed.

Avowed was labelled "skyrim killer" by you.
Starfield was labelled as "next generation RPG" and "next skyrim" by Todd and Bethesda. You know that little guy who often found near Phil Spencer. And they pumped so much. 3 delays, thematical gamepads, thematical xbox, special watches and dozens of presentations, interviews, special movie with BBW with colored hair, etc.

point is outer is 50% better while this is mid, lifeless when npc don't react to u and u can just do what u want with no cons (rpg fans are not happy with this limitations this laziness), its to point out what avowed is lacking, i am sure some have fun with combat like some liked vailguard just for the combat, and ppl who are disappointed want to dunk on this game, why do u care? just enjoy and ignore them why post?

This just shows you the sad state of American gaming companies. That in 6 years Obsidian downgraded to below the bare minimum. This also shows you the sad state of some gamers that they will accept below the bare minimum for $70. I have zero hope for Outer World 2 seeing the sad state of this game.
