Dawntreader bug, anyone else experienced this?

So there's a pretty solid quest in the first zone called Dawntreader, with a few nice story beats happening, but I'm experiencing a Bethesda level bug near the end:

I'm supposed to return to "Ofryc", at the Embassy. Problem is... he's not there. The -other- fellow is, but Ofryc is glimmering with his absence. The quest marker is up at the Apothecary shop, and when I go there it suddenly plummets to over 10000... err... whatever range units they're using -below- the map.

From what I can gather the quest marker tracks Ofryc and Ofryc has somehow ended up at the wrong spot in the city and then fallen deep below the world.

Have we come far enough that we know how to solve these things with... I don't know, console commands or something, or is this just a borked save I'll never get to finish Dawntreader in?

I stuck at this point for several days. got bugged before 1.2.2 patch and it doesn't fix anything. my character still waiting outside embassy until today :)

it happens when you stumble upon the quest while exploring.
i had that bug.

if you go to the city and the embassy first ofryc starts this questline and you will be able to complete it by the end. he is standing besides it.

its a stupid bug. i did restart because of that one. only lost 4 hours of my time.
thats the only solution right now.

I started the quest from the Embassy and still got the bug. Seems like it's not specific to the start of it.

Me too, I got the quest in the city. not sure what is the "trigger" for the bug :(

damn. i thought that was it.
then i was lucky.

sorry for that misinformation then.

but that was how I did it the second time around.
some people told me that should work
