The Modern Audience Comes Through Once Again
Looks like peak Steam player count for Avoided will come in at 17,171 for launch day, extremely impressive showing for the modern audience once again. They added an extremely impressive 4k players over their pre-release, stunning.

And for the 'everyones playing on Gamepass' crowd, it's not even in the top 90 of their single player games listings, though we don't have exact numbers. Looks like timeless classics such as "Untitled Goose Game" are beating it, which is unsurprising, but I'm sure it's doing very well there, with several dozens of real gamers enjoying the exquisite GOTY experience it delivers.

This can't be true. I refuse to believe it. Another chud conspiracy. There were so many comrades who got out of their time machines to tell me how popular and successful Avowed was before it was even released. The only people who hate it are mentally ill youtube grifters who get paid for being negative.
Exactlyt! If people are not the target audience they don't buy it. And this is the result. They targeted modern audience, and they will pay the costly price for it. We will probably see another studio get sacked or something.. And its not even just that. The game lacks everything you'd expect from a RPG.
This isn't a modern audience game though
Besides the pronouns at character creation there isn't much else beyond the woke agenda in this game.
Starfield was woke, and it pulled in much higher numbers on launch? Do you know why?

Because Bethesda had better brand recognition compared to Oblivion and they still got roasted and lost money.

Not to mention a development and marketing budget that was an order of magnitude higher, I hear that might impact things a bit.

17k for launch day is actually really pathetic when it comes to a AAA game...200k would mean it was successful, 17k means its pretty dismal...now...that doesnt mean i dont personally like the game...i just think it has a lot of forced diversity in it (90% female NPC's) and that is going to turn a lot of ppl off...

The best ownership estimate put it in 100.000 sales in Steam, roughly 10M$ in profit.

The game had around 100 employees working at this for several years. The game budget should be around 100M$, not counting marketing and other expenses.

Is hard to believe that Game Pass + Consoles is worth 10x the Steam sales (again, not marketing even).

Big oof.

But Obsidian CEO will pocket 20M$ on bonuses, fire the devs, and blame his failure on racist costumers like they always do.
