I've been banned from the subreddit and I haven't even posted anything

I wanted to ask a queston on the sub this evening, but to my surprise I have been banned and haven't even make one post there yet. What's happening?

I was banned for simply saying that his comments were troubling. Called me names, shut me out. Bizarre.

Bizarre? Typical I would say. People are very polarized and thin skinned nowadays.

Hard to tell... Usually Steam mods only give temp bans but if you get like... 10 temp bans in (let's say) a year, I think you CAN get perma banned eventually. Even if he's not perma banned also, the temp bans get longer and longer as you get them. So, if it's his (let's say, again) fifth temp ban, it could be 1-2 month(s).

I'm a bit surprised though, cause I didn't see him breaking the ToS in this forum. Of course I haven't meticulously investigated all his posts but yeah... I didn't see him send insults and the likes...

Some people will report anything they disagree with. Even if they were not personally insulted. I am wondering if there are ban bots working full time just based on multiple reports.

Then you can't wonder why people are so polarized anymore. Everybody (kind of) is hiding in their safety bubble. When they come out, it's to go to war with some other bubble.

People used to be able to argue, differ, and be civil. Almost an archaic notion now.

I checked and he seems unbanned. Guessing is is staying away for now.

Whoever came up with that feature must be fired tbh... such a fail idea. also this is Obsidian, this was a decent company in the past.. can't I funded their kickstarter lmao.. I guess back then they were still talking about games.. stooping to banning entire subreddits is such petty behaviour.

Don't think Obsidian have anything to do with reddit subs for their games. They have their own forums which are fairly active.

Yup, and you can't do anything about it. Mods of a subreddit have all the power and can use it however they want. Can't even report them to reddit. According to reddit themselves, they suggest finding another subreddit of similar topic. I can't even report anyone specific for calling me a white supremacist because it was done through the mod chat instead of the individual mod user account. And, as you saw, they can just stop you from completely being able to talk to anyone in messages. So, in a sense it is almost like a double ban.

You can report them and it sounds like you should.

Done. Thanks for the link. Avowed mods insulted me multiple times in their private messages calling me racist or extremist racist for no reason whatsoever.

Ah ok, I'll take your word for it... would be so outlandish seeing companies ban half their customers from discussing the launch of their game.. atleast from the outside looking in.
