Blocking bugs : fire not working on brambles & ice on cage

Hello,
I now have two quests that I cannot complete :
-One sided quest, Steel Resolve, as every ice spell or ice bomb doesn't seem to work on Verano's cage to free him)
-And the main quest, Face your fears, as every fire spell or fire bomb doesn't seem to work on the brambles blocking the way towards the statue's missing pieces.

Anyone has a workaround to solve the above, or shall I just wait for an eventual patch to solve this, or just give it up ?

Use Kai for the fire perhaps but as for the ice issue I'm not sure.
