You hit someone with fire damage, a circular flame icon appears on the target. As you hit it with more fire, the circle around the icon fills up. Whe it is completely filled, the targets is set on fire and burns.

Same with the other elements (ice freezes solid eventually etc.)

Like fire, poison, frost?
Just debuffs that result in a specific condition once they reach 100%.
Fire results in burning, frost/ice result in being frozen in place etc....

They can affect both enemies as well as player.
