i read most are on gamepass (both pc and xbox, to the tune of near 2mill), and then there's a surprisingly large chunk who own it on the battle.net client (close to a mill), and a significant portion of that bnet chunk being players in asia
All Microsoft games published by them are on gamepass.
The rest of your post got invalidated for not knowing this simple fact
If you go onto see what part of the point I was making is, its that you dont want AAA games going straight to gamepass because this is the quality you get... and this is the model some publishers want the gamer to accept. This game isnt a triple AAA game, hence is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in quotes.. Its about as triple AAA as the pirate game that came out..
You know what cant be invalidated.. 9500 players on steam playing Avowed right now.. 35000 playing skyrim....
We'll see what the xbox numbers are for feb soon enough...
No it was drivel
How many people learned about the existence of Avowed in the two weeks it has been out?
How many players learned about the existence of Skyrim in the 14 years it has been out?
...yeah.
If anything, the fact that there still are 35000 players playing skyrim is a praise for (modded) Skyrim, not damnation for Avowed.
Like this game haha!
It had a major marketing campaign.. add that to its budget... compare it other AAA game releases that have 100k + players on release then taper down.. this game didnt even break 20k.... hahah 20k!!!!! Games that are 15+ years old are retaining a larger player base Skyrim is the best example because its the same studio!
The best argument people have for the game having a decent player base is game pass because they gain access to it for free(free be cause is brand new content that other pay 80-100 for they gain access to and can play for no additional cost to them. They pay for the game pass service not the specific game). However on release it was at like 16th in top games played, but has sinced moved to like 3rd... Although there will be some data showing most played games on xbox in feb soon enough.
You know what other game didn't even break 20K?
Dishonored. A game highly praised by both players and critics, a classic of it's own time. It peaked at 19K, same as Avowed.
I am somewhat amused when people learn about Skyrim and then go 'ew old' but then learn about the modding community and download the game and turn it into Elden Ring Graphics.
The game is one of the greatest of all time.
Look at the games that came out and 2012 and you'll have your answer.
You have no answer, so you just throw out a generic response. How.... unexpected.
It's a great sandbox for modding and tinkering, and a good "life sim", but as an actual game with fun exciting gameplay, it's mid at best. Same for Oblivion. Avowed is actually better in this regard.
Well, if I had $70.00; and I had to pick between Avowed and Elden Ring - I know what I would pick.
