Why is the update 197.9 GB?

Wow? Really? The game requirements on the store page claim 75 GB hard to imagine a update that would be about 2.5 times larger.

same for me. the update shows 197.9 GB's. when I try starting the update, the update proceeds, leeching the free space on my hard drive slowly, while being stuck at 56 percent. anyone else experiencing this?

No, download size is 1,4GB for me, patching goes slowly but steady.

Because Steam takes the Microsoft progress bar approach to reporting.

Update should just be a few GB; Steam does have a tendency to pretend it's downloading the entire game again though (usually it'll report the full size as the download size, but if you look at what it's actually downloading it'll give you the actual size of the download. Dunno why Valve changed it, just seems to be how the client works these days).
