For anyone that wants to say 'But gamepass, Console, Battle.net'

On PC. Steam is by far the most popular platform. Quite a few people often prefer to buy a game on steam than use gamepass. And the Xbox isn't exactly known for selling amazingly.
I could see there being more on game pass then steam due to the price, game is not worth 70 bucks but I also do not expect it to be doing nearly as well as people claim it is on there, on consoles its likely doing about the same as on steam. 186K units sold is the estimate on steam, I would assume about 200K on consoles. If these numbers are around the ballpark of being correct that would mean the gamepass would need to make 1.6 million units sold worth of revenue to make a profit. Now something to point out with gamepass is that they are not selling copies, even if someone on there plays the game through and beats it they wont receive 70 dollars from that person, its 15 bucks for a month so they would likely get less then 7 dollars a person playing it so even at 7 dollars a person they would need roughly 16 million people playing gamepass to make the difference. This is all only if the budget was 80 million.

I was playing video games before it was cool. Back when you got made fun of for it.

I don't understand this need to feel like millions of people need to enjoy something before I am allowed to.

I'll happily be one of these 8k people appreciating Avowed while others overlook it. That's what being a "gamer" used to mean anyway.

High playercount = good. Low player count = bad? That's a level of ignorance I doubt most people can comprehend. Why don't you spend some time putting together actual criticism that doesn't involve

1 - player numbers
2 - the "wokeness"

You are missing the main point. It's not that people are mad anyone is enjoying it. It's an 'Okay game'.

The ACTUAL ISSUE. Is the fact this game wants $70. Cost somewhere between 30-60 million if not more. And people are calling it a success. It is not.

You can enjoy it. Cool, Whatever. But a vast majority of people agree it's not worth its price and are peeved about it. They also don't appreciate being lied to and told the 'game is currently meeting expectations'. And people trying to defend it saying "There's totally lots more playing it on game pass!"

Enjoy the game. but don't go acting like it's some revolutionary smash hit

Player numbers matter when it comes to Budget and scale.

$10 indie game that cost someone a couple of hours of free time for a year or 2 with a peak of 18k players: Great. Amazing. A success and some great bank.

$70 AAA budget game with 6 years of development time made by a studio that has around 100 people: A critical failure that hasn't made even close to breaking even.

I'm glad you're explaining the common sense because I don't have the energy to.

I haven't seen anyone claim this.

They're just trying to say that it's a good game and getting absolutely slammed for it.

It's a good game by the way.

Some people have been trying really hard to claim it's a great game.

Again. if you enjoy it, Cool. But calling it good is subjective. Again. Vast majority either doesn't care, doesn't want it, or says it's 'Okay'

player numbers are the most important thing if an avowed 2 is ever going to get made.. god forbid..

The game is not even an RPG, and it pile of trash. RPG's have immersion, this game has no immersion whatsoever, therefore it can not be classified as an RPG, It got what it deserved.

If I had more points I'd give you an award as well.

For every person here claiming that Avowed is a revolutionary game there are a legion of others, like the post above, claiming that it is complete garbage.

Let's not pretend that there is no ideological assault against video games right now.

Edit: Oh, they deleted the post calling it garbage and made a new one.

The reason people like myself are attacking it so agressively is because we don't want to see this upward trend continuing. Games going up in price, down in quality.

Lets take New Vegas for instance. Back then it was $50, maybe that's when 60 started. But it was a GOOD game. EVERYONE liked it. And it was well worth its price. it offered you content. Hundreds of hours of gameplay. A sizable amount of repeatability. Physics, NPC's that would react. many other things.

Avowed is $70. has less choice. Bugger all physics, Static NPC's. A less open world. Less if any choice.

People don't want to pay $70 for less of a game that they could get for over a decade ago.
