But the game was obviously designed as FP game, and 3d person footage at least at the stage of the preview build really doesn't feel as good

Didn't know the preview build had the 3rd person option, I only had the dev comment to go by but that was relatively old and may not have been true anymore.
Anyway, no matter how crappy gameplay in 3rd person may be, it's the only way I could even play the game due to motion sickness. It's not exactly fun when you play for 15 mins in 1st person and get a headache and if you continue playing ... well, let's just say it's good to have bucket nearby ...
Don't be mislead by the culture warriors, left or right, same ♥♥♥♥ different a-hole. They really don't care about how much fun a game can provide, they only care about their agenda.
Watch the late November previews and make up your own mind. I'm telling you the entire thing is a farce, Avowed gameplay doesn't even look as woke as BG3.
t. some one who was mislead by culture warriors into not purchasing PoE2 "because obsidian is so woke now it's finished" until I did and loved it, and learned to hate any color of culture warrior ever since.
No, my opinions were formed from the preview videos I did watch as well as from screenshots that showed dialog. It just so happened that none of them showed the 3rd person gameplay or I've missed it (which is quite possible).
I simply don't like most of what I see there and I despise the fact that this been turned into more of action game than a true cRPG. Sorry, but I simply hate the gameplay I've seen.
There are simply, in my opinion, a lot of red flags raised like the cringey dialog options I criticized or the apparently simplified gameplay (like the lack of skills).
Like I said elsewhere, I only really enjoy a very specific kind of game and gameplay.
Whether it's woke or not isn't really the question here. I wouldn't call BG 3 woke in general, you could go full woke while playing it but you didn't have to. I basically disabled all of the woke stuff in it and I never played an unmodded version except for the very first EA patch. :) So that may have played a role as well.
I would appreciate another true crpg as well
but I'm also legitimately puzzled, wasn't it originally announced as a first person action RPG?
I think you are pretty active in avowed forum, why bother about it at all then, if it's just not the genre you are interested in?
I'm actually not that active on this forum, most of the time I just lurk here :)
The game was originally announced as an open world RPG like the Elder Scrolls if I recall correctly. Avowed then went through sort of development hell... until it resurfaced. I've only bothered with it when the reveal trailer was shown during the Xbox presentation and it was mentioned they planned a 3rd person mode.
I'm mainly interested in the game because I like Eora as a setting. For me the setting is of equal if not greater importance than the actual gameplay. So if I like a setting I'm willing to put up with gameplay I don't enjoy.
Take for example The Witcher 3 ... I didn't really enjoy the gameplay, but I love the setting, characters and story.
I'm still holding a vague hope that Avowed's story will be good and not riddled with real world politics and topics like, for example, Failguard. I can't obviously say anything about the characters aside from how they look.
Its both! you can play in 3rd person too. You get to switch back and forth freely.
