Seems like the game is flopping hard!
Few days out from early access and still outside the Steam Top 50.
I hope Obsidian won't get shuttered for this.

Besides, a few years ago people were saying "everything is political" when this type of content was being pushed and gamers at large said "don't politicize my games" and the "everything is political" crowd tried to shame gamers by saying everything is.

Well, now they are trying to say this type of content, that they themselves politicized so they could add politics to our entertainment, is no longer political and that WE shouldn't politicize it.

Doesn't work that way. The people pushing it politicized it in order to get what they want and it has stayed politicized as a result.

All art is political. Period. But not all *aspects* of art are political. Just having trans people *in the game* isn't necessarily a "political" act. Trans people exist, and trans people play games, having trans people in the game--and the option to play as a trans person--is simply a broadening of the market. At the end of the day, corporations want *money*.

That being said, ALL ART IS POLITICAL. You cannot divorce art from politics.
So does people that think they are cats.. so should that also be an option? The point here is that characters should be organic, not based in real life 2025.. to tap on the trans/non binary/ etc. thing, that is organic in ie. CP2077 with Claire. An example of inorganic injection would be Taash in Veilguard.

People like diversity (not just characters, also nature, culture, animals, etc) in games, ad long as they are believable in the setting.

Okay. Explain to me why Taash wasn't believable as a character in the setting.

They do... all projects have to get approved by them and follow corporate guidelines.
They also have to meet certain qouta goals.

Its corpo 101.

Why do you think most corpo games are soulless? Well its because there are so many restrictions to the developers creativity
MS is more incompetent than you think they are. If MS was hands on, we'd already have Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5. MS's lack of studio management is fiscal malpractice, and my inner corpo finds it to be offensive. Seriously. Like, WTF is Phil doing? How does he still have this job?
No. Gaming is a tiny part of their overall revenue and even smaller net profit for them.

Their main goal is.
Selling hardware (xbox) so they can get more on gamepass (their revenue cash cow) but players are tired of paying to play online, hence why inhouse studios make games fir gamepass (console centric)

MS don't lose anything from porting to PC, but is angry about players not subbing to PC gamepass.

I would not be surprised if they wanted to make win a sub based OS(they will eventually) and maybe include gamepass standard as a deal along.

I am an investor so from that perspective it make good sense, from a PC gamer perspective, it sounds like hell on earth.

But if you can't beat them, join them. Look up investor calls if you wanna learn more

Due to lore.
The player is also forced to engage with them and agree.. no player agency like ie in a game like BG3.

Tassh is as hated by the lgbt+ community as Mizhena was.. Taash don't really have a personallity or real motivation, they come off as inmature, dramatic, rude and agressive. Take Claire, she is done right, has personallity and is believable in the setting.

If I wanted to explore modern identity however, I would personallity go for Tell me why, rather than making an entire dark, gritty medieval Fantasy IP be the medium..

You know what they say.....
Read the room

But what do I know... I will take a Barve just to be sure

I am also an investor, and their gaming sector might grow a little quicker if it was run a little better. I'm just saying that there is scarce evidence that they are hands on with devs. Why do we have a hit Fallout TV show and no Fallout game? Obsidian has made a Fallout game. InXile could make a Fallout game. But we won't get a Fallout game until 2030. If MS was hands on, this wouldn't be an option. They wouldn't sit on valuable IPs for decades while their devs churn out games with IPs that no one cares about. If MS was hands on, Avowed wouldn't exist. It would be The Elder Scrolls Gaiden or Fallout NV2.

Because of development cycles.
It is a more delicate process than you think and having multiple projects means you share resources across the board, but might have vital employees stuck on another project... People are people.. they can't be more than one place at a time

I haven't heard any serious backlash against Taash from the LGBTQIA+ community, only from anti-woke whackjobs.

Why doesn't Taash work in the lore? Explain like I'm a child.

Oh, also, you're not "forced to agree". You can shut that whole thing down by just telling her to basically shut up and be a good daughter.

They purchased these studios 6-7 years ago. That's plenty of time for the corpo's directives to affect the games that are being released right now. But the corpos are asleep at the wheel. They will shutter these studios when it is cost effective, and I think that's the only evidence of management that you are going to see.
its a 'straight to VHS' gamepass title. wouldnt buy here unless it was 10 bucks. outer worlds was terrible and only like 20 hours long for a 100% playthrough

garbage

Maybe because they sounded like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ starbucks guzzling Californian techie in a dark fantasy medieval world, from a culture of iron age barbarians?

Everybody in Dragon Age always does. The use common modern slang and vernacular.

The question is why Taash didn't fit in the setting, not "Why does the setting feel so modern despite being medieval"?
No political views should be in any game only if you can decide what the outcome is. There are only 2 Gs and always will be. People refuse this nonsense and all games flopped with it

Yes. They absolutely do. I've literally played every Bioware game ever made. I even played Anthem for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake.
it'll probably do worse than veilguard. its a new IP thats got a lot of the wrong publicity behind it. this low on the wishlist this close to release speaks volumes.
