Avowed
Avowed and Pillars of Eternity.
So I love PoE games. The settings, the lore... The CRPG aspects. It was Niche game, only possible due to kickstarter, but it was amazing. The setting of Eora was Deep, Mature, and Heavy.

Wasn't much for builds and heavy gameplay, but story, choices and settings were S+
Deadfire only improved on it and it's one of best CRPG's there is. With same league as Pathfinder WOTR.

Why... making clone of Skyrim for Third game in Eora? It's not Pillars, but it takes away from the setting, Why no next CRPG as fans wanted? Why are you trying to capture ''new audience'' what isn't interested in your product Obsidian?

Or is it simply to fill Xbox Game Pass quota? Obsidian Please... You can get closed. Stop fighting against your fans, and developers who made history with their games, or did most of them left seeing what you Become?

Speak for yourself bro. Obsidian made the best Fallout game, and then went on to make Outer Worlds and Grounded. They make killer First Person Open World games. I've been stoked af for this since it was announced several years ago.

Basically everyone who's played a preview copy has said that the game has robust dialogue trees and lets you role play as an evil character.

This is from the same company that made Fallout New Vegas, another first person game comparable to Wasteland Skyrim with Guns but the dialogue and role playing were fantastic in it.

New Vegas was amazing. And best in terms of current Fallout Games. Outer Worlds wasn't great. It was decent. And I can't say anything about Grounded because I dislike Survival Games.

This shouldn't be fallout. This should be Pillars of Eternity. Avowed isn't PoE, but it uses the setting for different Genra. Can you Image if New Vegas was racing game?

Honestly I think half of what New Vegas so good was that they were able to build on Bethesda's structure. If Obsidian had had to make it all from scratch, they wouldn't have produced the same result.

It's similar to why Saints Row 2 is the best of that series. It re-used a lot of SR1's content then expanded on it.

If you've never played New Vegas or Fallout 1&2 before I understand your confusion, but the point is that the transition to a first person game doesn't mean it's dumbed down like Skyrim, because New Vegas is a first person game with some of the best designed quests and best written dialogue trees in CRPG history.

Bethesda didn't understand Fallout, but Obsidian did.

Don't get me wrong I love classic isometric CRPGs like PoE and Tyranny and it would be a travesty if they were to stop being made, but that's the core thing that's different, in PoE you engage from a top down isometric perspective with micromanaged pause based combat, in Avowed it's from a first person perspective with more action oriented combat.

But the RPG fundamentals are essentially the same, you still have your quests and dialogue trees and exploration of a rich and interesting world.

If that doesn't appeal to you though I highly HIGHLY recommend checking out Owlcat Studios to scratch that CRPG itch it's not the same as Pillars of Eternity but they make games very similar to it like Pathfinder: WOTR

WOTR and Rogue Trader are both really good and worth playing. Though be warned every Owlcat game is a little frontloaded with content.
WOTR Surprised me. I played through as a Lich and wasn't expecting it to allow me to go nearly as far as it let me go with it, which was all the way.

Sadly it does vary based on path. Lich is one of the better developed ones.

Basically most of the five main ones are well done. It's the ones that unlock later that are underbaked.

who wouldn't want a game like Skyrim but with more story choices and different paths that the story can take?

I do own WOTR and have close to 300 hours in it :) that's why I wanted PoE3 to be something like that.

CRPG dont sell. It is that simple. Baldurs Gate 3 are the outlier. It is extremely hard to make CRPG. What define a good CRPG is the freedom of choice both in terms of it story telling and combat. It will required the most passionate of developers to create one. And the return of investment for those games are normally very mediocre. What is the most popular genre in SP gaming? Action with RPG element for single player games. CRPG like pathfinder is very niche. How many people here you can ask around ever finish PoE, Pathfinder or BG 2?

Isometrics are easier to make than full 3d games like this, that normally guaranteed that majority of the development is used for storytelling. A huge chunk of development for 3d games like this will be eaten by teams that try to make the game looks pretty. Sure fans will like it but if you are crpg fans it is not on the top of priority. BG3 manage to pull it off but i said again and again that it is the outlier, they are the exception even then the most hardcore fans are still complain that some of its RPG element suffer because of it. Skyrim for example focus on the graphics and as the result its RPG elements suffered a lot. Starfield is even worse than Skyrim and since then Bethesda fans are leaving. Obsidian fans are crpg fans, i hope they dont make the same mistake as bioware did.
Nonsense. Avowed is a great way of expanding the world of Eora and giving us another FP RPG, which Obsidian are really good at making. I don't see how it takes away from Eora/POE by expanding the world and showing us more of it.

You can't be half of classes that used to be in PoE. There is no Monk, No Chanter, No Cipher. Unique things got removed, so you're just mage, fighter or ranger.

Yup, Avowed is a dumbed-down spin off nobody asked for.
