Obsidian insulted me multiple times so far.
First i've benn called chud by Matt Hansen and harassed multiple times by Avowed reddit moderators where i got called "racist" and "extremist racist" for no reason whatsoever.

It was tried with Stellar Blade, and it's being tried with Marvels Rivals right now.
You seem to really misunderstand the power dynamics in a free market.
The customers int he market have ALL the power because they control the spending. If a game is good, the money will follow, but if it is not then the money will not.
But there are things that can really hurt the perception of whether a game is good or not, and at that point the moment the public perceives a game is trash, regardless of whether or not it actually is, the market will reflect this as well.
Right now we are in a massive cultural pendulum swing as the pendulum is now swinging to the right and at a rapid pace. Anything and everything in the entertainment industry that even has a hint of the type of racial and sexuality pandering that has made up identity politics is going to be under extreme scrutiny and a lot of people will deny the company their money just for its presence alone.
Matt Hansen virtue signaled during the George Floyd riots and the employees at Obsidian (via leaked Slak messages) more or less share his opinions regarding gamers and race, and the CEO is hoping the whole thing will blow over. Well, what was popular 4-6 years ago is now anathema to business and anyone and everyone who pushed it is suffering massive layoffs industry wide. The money is just not there to support it.
So, Obsidian is in a position where their chances of getting their money back is now extremely slim. The game will HAVE to be perfect in nearly every category just to have a chance of overcoming the racism of Matt Hansen and the Obsidian employees.
Sounds like the exact same thing that people said about Dragon Age Veilguard.
"It's a famous IP from a 'respected' developer. It gonna be great!" Just ignore everything about the development.
